Kody Brown, 57, and his wife Robyn Brown, 47, are done with “Sister Wives.”
The couple will not appear in Season 21 of the TLC reality series, the network revealed in a trailer released Thursday. The teaser opens with a blunt announcement: “after 16 years of filming ‘Sister Wives,’ Kody & Robyn will not be returning to the show.” Neither Kody nor Robyn commented on the departure, and neither appeared in the trailer footage.
Kody’s three former wives, however, were filmed reacting to the casting shake-up in separate confessionals. Christine Brown Woolley, 54, admitted her confusion about the move. “I don’t know what it means. I have no idea,” she said in the trailer.
Janelle Brown, 57, expressed sharper surprise. “I was flabbergasted, really, when I got the news,” she said.
Meri Brown, 55, echoed that sentiment. “I was actually surprised when I was told that Kody and Robyn weren’t coming back to the show,” she added.
The exit marks a major rupture for a family that television audiences have followed since September 2010. Kody originally entered the public eye married to three women: Meri, Janelle, and Christine. He wed Robyn in 2014, making her his fourth wife. A cascade of separations followed, with Christine leaving Kody in 2021, and both Janelle and Meri breaking from him in 2022. Robyn alone remained.
The fractured family dynamics have played out across multiple seasons. Many of Kody’s 18 children are now estranged from him, and he embarked on what he called an “apology tour” at the close of last season.
The Season 21 trailer shows the three ex-wives reuniting for what the network bills as “awkward” encounters. The footage includes the women melting down jewelry Kody gave them, arguing over a land deal, and discussing their romantic lives since leaving the plural marriage.
Christine has since remarried, wedding David Woolley in 2023. Janelle has been linked to a man named Pete. Meri has reportedly begun dating someone named Rob.
Kody and Robyn’s silence on their departure leaves questions about whether the couple chose to leave or were cut from the series. Representatives for Kody and for TLC did not immediately respond to requests for comment when approached Thursday.
The Brown family’s televised unraveling became one of reality television’s most documented marital collapses. What began as a showcase of polygamous family life gradually transformed into chronicle of bitter divisions, with Christine’s 2021 departure shattering the group’s central dynamic. The subsequent exits of Janelle and Meri completed the dissolution of Kody’s once four-wife household, leaving only Robyn by his side as the series continued.
The trailer’s direct statement about Kody and Robyn’s absence stands out for its finality. Reality franchises often shuffle casts, but the network’s choice to announce this removal in the teaser itself — rather than letting it unfold as a storyline — signals a clean break with the show’s original central figure.
