Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz reunited on the 2026 Emmys red carpet Monday night in Los Angeles.

The former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” co-stars, Gellar, 49, and Boreanaz, 57, posed arm-in-arm for photographers outside the Peacock Theater, with Gellar at one point resting her hand on Boreanaz as they exchanged adoring looks. She wore a fuchsia pink dress with her blond hair styled in an updo, while he opted for a classic black suit.

The duo were scheduled to present the award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series or Movie during the ceremony. Nominees in that category included Peacock’s “All Her Fault,” Netflix’s “The Beast in Me” and “Beef,” HBO Max’s “DTF St. Louis,” and FX/Hulu’s “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.”

Gellar and Boreanaz starred as on-screen lovers on the Joss Whedon-created supernatural drama, which ran for seven seasons from 1997 to 2003. She played Buffy Summers, a high schooler chosen to battle vampires and supernatural creatures, while he portrayed Angel, a vampire who falls in love with her.

The original series also featured Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Anthony Head, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Marsters and Emma Caulfield Ford in supporting roles.

The reunion came amid a difficult period for the cast, with multiple deaths in recent months. Trachtenberg, who played Buffy’s younger sister Dawn Summers, died at 39 on Feb. 26, from complications of diabetes. Brendon, who portrayed Buffy’s friend Xander Harris, died from cardiovascular disease and acute pneumonia on March 20, at 54. Head, who played Buffy’s mentor Rupert Giles, died on June 1, from complications of pneumonia at 72.

Plans for a “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reboot were scrapped in March 2026, according to reports at the time.

The Emmys appearance marked a rare public reunion for Gellar and Boreanaz, whose characters’ tortured romance became one of the defining storylines of the series. Angel initially appeared as Buffy’s love interest before spinning off into his own series, “Angel,” which ran from 1999 to 2004.
