Rep. Nancy Mace Calls for ‘Serial Killer’ Mom Lindsay Clancy to Be ‘Publicly Executed’ as a ‘Warning to Women’

Rep. Nancy Mace has called for Lindsay Clancy to face a public execution.

Mace, 48, a South Carolina Republican and mother of two, delivered the remarks to the outlet on Monday, days after Clancy’s trial for the 2023 deaths of her three children ended in a mistrial. The outgoing lawmaker left no ambiguity about her preferred punishment for the Massachusetts mother.

“Her children are dead, she should be dead too,” Mace told the outlet.

The congresswoman elaborated on the method and spectacle she envisioned. “She should get the death penalty. It should be public. It should be a public execution,” Mace said, saying Clancy “deserves nothing less.”

Mace expressed indifference to the specific means of execution. “It could be by firearm, it could be electric chair, I don’t really care,” she added. “She’s a serial killer.”

The lawmaker framed the execution as having broader deterrent value. Mace said such a punishment would serve as a “warning to women everywhere — you don’t kill your kids.”

Clancy’s trial concluded Sept. 4 when the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict, resulting in a hung jury. Her defense team had pursued a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity for the 2023 stranglings of her three young children. Eleven jurors supported the insanity defense, but one holdout prevented the required consensus.

Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, subsequently made a request to President Trump to pardon her — a move that both he and Trump later acknowledged is impossible because Clancy’s case is state-level, not federal.

Trump addressed the pardon request Sunday. “It’s a very sad situation,” he told reporters. “I certainly heard that, but look, it’s very sad. There is no winner there. There’s no win no matter what you do. Three children are dead.”

Mace blasted Reddington’s pardon plea as a “nasty, ugly” publicity stunt.

Clancy is likely facing a new trial following the mistrial.
