Lindsay “Daisey” Davis hijacked a Santa Monica City Council debate stage last week, leaving rival candidates frozen in place as she led breathing exercises and stripped off her shirt.
Davis, who campaigns as the “Venice Healer,” had been standing among audience members with a microphone before her sudden move to the stage. She appears to tell someone nearby, “An unconditional… to look out for each other,” according to video of the incident, then walks directly onto the platform.
“And with a magical boop — BOOP! BOOP! BOOP! BOOP! — Pretend that I booped everyone, I only get two and a half minutes,” she announced once at center stage.
The other candidates stared as Davis seized control of the event’s pacing. She pressed forward with a rapid-fire self-introduction that mixed performance art with political aspiration.
“And I gotta be the DJ, I gotta be the dancer, I gotta be the politician — something I’ve never done. And I love the political mumbo jumbo, and I swear I will learn to speak it, I will do all of that,” she continued.
The disruption escalated when Davis removed her red top and began stretching while clutching her skateboard. She attempted to recruit both the audience and her stunned competitors into a wellness routine.
“I want you to take a deep breath. Inhale through your nose and breathe out through your mouth,” she instructed, jumping on stage.
“Santa Monica, go. You want me to pick one topic? I will give you one topic: your breath,” she declared.
Davis’s campaign website foregrounds her personal experience with homelessness as central to her political identity. Before this council run, she built visibility in Venice through involvement with the local homeless community and a disputed tiny-home project on the Venice Boardwalk that drew authorities into tense confrontations with volunteers and residents. The structure was dismantled in 2024.
Her presence in the beachside neighborhood had already attracted notice — she was frequently seen walking undressed in the area. Her campaign materials also reference an early interest in politics, including an alleged meeting with former President Ronald Reagan during her youth.
The debate footage has circulated widely online, amplifying attention toward her unconventional bid for elected office.
Davis frames her work around wellness, community building, and what she terms “social healing,” positioning her lack of traditional political background as authentic rather than disqualifying.
