Ahna’s parents have spoken out about their nine-year-old daughter’s vivid visions of an ancient underwater city.
The couple, who appear in the Lifetime Movie Network documentary series *The Ghost Inside My Child*, say the girl began describing detailed scenes from what she called her past life shortly after her ninth birthday. Her father told the network that she spoke of “these visions of an ancient world” and “her life there” with striking specificity.
“The way she talked about it was as if she was actually walking around the place where she used to live,” he said. “She described caves, she described a desert-like environment, simple homes, life events, times of transition living in caves with community members.”
The father became increasingly convinced his daughter was recounting genuine memories rather than imagined stories. He noted that she depicted the location “from the perspective of someone who lives there” versus someone who simply “imagined it.”
“The more she spoke, the more I realised she was merely reporting what she had seen and that there was a whole set of experiences and emotions that came with it,” he continued. “How can a little girl have all this information about this ancient civilization?”
Ahna’s drawings added another layer to her parents’ growing curiosity. She produced sketches of “the islands where she used to live,” including one her father described as resembling “a map she once saw when she was there.” The girl also told her parents about “a traumatic event that happened involving an earthquake in her village,” with her father noting how “specific” she was about the disaster.
The family’s search for answers led them to a scientific discovery that matched Ahna’s descriptions. Researchers had located the ancient Egyptian port city of Heracleion, also known as Thonis, underwater in the year 2000. The settlement, dating to approximately the 12th-century BC, was found near the Canopic Mouth of the Nile.
“Researchers had said it was a port city and that a big earthquake led to it being underwater,” Ahna’s mother said in the documentary. Heracleion sat on an “odd shaped island” that matched “exactly” what the nine-year-old had drawn in one of her pictures.
The parallels prompted the parents to question whether Ahna was “remembering a past life.” The mother also disclosed a separate incident in which the girl woke up claiming she “remembered the entire language” of her ancient civilization, writing down symbols and placing them next to corresponding English letters.
“This whole thing is blowing me away,” she said.
The documentary series *The Ghost Inside My Child* explores spirituality and other-worldly experiences in children, with Ahna’s case serving as one of its featured stories. Heracleion, the historical city at the center of her claims, was indeed a real ancient Egyptian port city that sank beneath the Mediterranean, with its rediscovery by underwater archaeologists generating significant scholarly interest.
