Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber maintained unwavering support for their son Presley throughout his public struggles with addiction and mental health, sources close to the family revealed following his death.
“There was always concern around Presley,” a source close to the family said. “Cindy and Rande loved him tremendously, and they worried about him. They wanted him to be healthy and get to a good place.”
The model and businessman never withdrew their backing even as their son’s battles played out publicly over several years. “They never stopped supporting him,” the insider continued. “No matter what he was going through, his family was there and wanted him to get the help he needed.”
Presley died Sunday at age 27 while at a rehab facility in Santa Monica. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet completed an autopsy or released an official cause of death. Reports said Monday that authorities suspect he died from a drug overdose during treatment.
His mother maintained an especially close bond with him throughout his life. “Cindy is incredibly close to her children,” the source noted. “Presley was her only son and she was always protective of him. She wanted nothing more than to see him doing well.”
The family home has already begun receiving flowers in the wake of his death, according to the same insider.
Presley had spoken openly about his addiction and mental health challenges in the months before his passing. In March, he wrote on Instagram about undergoing ibogaine treatment, describing it as a turning point after years of avoiding his issues and struggling to relinquish control during previous treatment attempts.
His famous family publicly rallied around him during this period. Just six months before his death, Crawford called her son a “warrior” as he shared details of his treatment journey.
Kaia Gerber, 25, also addressed her brother’s decade-long struggle last month, speaking about how it had affected their family. “When something like that happens … it kind of levels everyone,” she said, praising her brother for refusing to hide what he was going through.
Presley began modeling as a teenager and signed with IMG Models at 15. He was last publicly photographed with his parents in June, when he was seen embracing Crawford and Rande during a family outing in Malibu.
The family confirmed his death Sunday night through a representative, who asked for privacy “during this very difficult and painful time.” Reps for Crawford and Rande did not immediately respond to the outlet’s requests for comment.
He is survived by his parents and his sister.
