Cindy Crawford’s final public birthday tribute to her son Presley Gerber has become a gathering place for grief after the 27-year-old model died at a Los Angeles rehabilitation center.
The supermodel, 59, posted two photographs to Instagram on July 2 — one showing a toddler-aged Presley lying across her chest, another of the pair in matching colored sunglasses as adults — alongside a message that now reads with crushing poignancy. “Happy birthday @presleygerber I’m so proud of the man you’ve become, but I’ll always see you as my little boy! Love you,” she wrote on the platform.
His death was confirmed by records filed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. A representative for the family said: “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
Presley was the eldest child of Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, and had pursued modeling like his mother. His younger sister Kaia Gerber, also a model, had joined the family in openly supporting his documented struggles.
Five months before his death, Presley shared what would become one of his final Instagram posts — a March 26 video from a garden, labeled “pre Ibogaine Flood Dose.” The treatment involves a maximum medically safe macrodose of pure Ibogaine Hydrochloride designed to saturate NMDA and kappa-opioid receptors in the central nervous system, overwhelming and dislodging synthetic drugs from the brain’s reward center to block acute withdrawal agony, according to the Ibogaine Clinic. The clinic notes the process places heavy temporary workload on the cardiovascular system and liver, with patients experiencing ataxia and QTc prolongation.
In the caption, Presley described his emotional state before undergoing the powerful treatment. “I was absolutely terrified, and I knew I would be again if I ever had to face something like this (helps to not go into the situations you do that get ya there but that’s life sometimes.) (my mantras were love yourself and lis gotta be the last time for this reason. Letting go of control didn’t come easy, but I trusted there was something bigger than me guiding it. I knew why i was there. I faced what I had been running from, and somewhere in all of it, i started finding my way back to myself …. We shall see….”
He continued: “Praying it’s the last time I have to come back. Next time I’d like to choose And absolutely can’t forget the incredible caring kind and on their [expletive] team. Helps a lot haha.”
The post drew an outpouring of family support in the comments section. Kaia responded: “That’s my brother I am so damn proud.”
Cindy wrote: “You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!”
Rande added his own message of encouragement: “I’m so proud of you and your courage. Facing what’s hard takes real strength and watching you find your way back to yourself is everything. I love you so much.”
Since news of Presley’s passing emerged, mourners have returned to Crawford’s July birthday post to leave condolences. One Instagram user commented: “My heart is so heavy for this family right now. I’m so sorry.”
The family’s public support for Presley had been consistent across his social media, with Crawford, Kaia and Rande regularly commenting on his posts about his journey. That visible solidarity stood in contrast to the private nature of his final days at the Los Angeles facility.
