Paloma Faith has revealed she wears a vial of her boyfriend’s blood around her neck.
The 45-year-old singer-songwriter shared the macabre jewelry detail on Angela Scanlon’s Gift List podcast, where she showed host Scanlon the pendant containing Stevie Thomas’s blood. “This little thing is actually a vial, and it’s got my boyfriend’s blood in it. Does that put you off me?” Faith asked during the episode.
Scanlon immediately drew a parallel to one of Hollywood’s most infamous celebrity couples. “No! It’s very Angelina-Billy Bob!” she responded, invoking the 2000-2003 marriage of Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton, when the pair wore miniature vials of each other’s blood.
Faith laughed and embraced the comparison. “It is, isn’t it? Which I later found out meant he plagiarized their present-giving.”
The “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” hitmaker explained that Thomas acquired the blood through decidedly clinical means rather than any dramatic at-home extraction. “He had a blood test and just asked the doctor for a bit extra,” she told Scanlon. The opportunistic request during a routine medical appointment yielded enough liquid to fill the wearable keepsake.
Faith then teased the pendant’s potential for unconventional relationship leverage. “If he’s ever bad, I can just take a little bit out and make a voodoo doll out of it and stick pins in his eyes. So, that’s great!”
The blood vial revelation comes during an eventful period for Faith and Thomas, who welcomed their first child together earlier this year. The singer announced on Instagram that their son arrived on March 6, though the newborn faced immediate medical challenges. “He was a bit early and ended up in NICU for 3 days with some breathing problems,” she shared on the platform at the time. “The midwives and team (Obgyn etc) around me were incredible.” The baby has since returned home with the family.
The new child marks Faith’s third overall, joining two children she shares with former partner Leyman Lahcine.
Beyond her music career, which includes four UK top-10 singles and the 2014 chart-topping collaboration “Changing,” Faith has built a screen presence for international audiences. She portrays villain Bet Sykes in Pennyworth, the DC Comics origin series exploring the backstory of Batman’s eventual butler Alfred Pennyworth.
