Stella Parton has broken her silence on the family turmoil that has unfolded since her sister Dolly’s death last month.
The 75-year-old singer took to Instagram on Wednesday to address what she called the “struggles” facing the Parton family, one day before the one-month anniversary of the country legend’s passing. Her post came amid escalating tension over Dolly’s estate and the firing of a longtime family employee.
Bryan Seaver, 47, had served as Dolly’s head of security for two decades and was the person tasked with filming the pre-recorded message announcing her death, which was made public on August 25. In the weeks since, the estate has reportedly terminated his employment and filed a restraining order against him.
Allegations against Seaver include claims that he threatened to launch a smear campaign about his late aunt and that he engaged in a “campaign of threats, intimidation, and coercion” in the period leading up to Parton’s death. Seaver has since denied threatening anyone.
Stella’s Instagram post on September 24 began with a message of gratitude: “Good morning, look at this beautiful day we are blessed to receive!”
“Tomorrow will be one month since my big sister Dolly left us on this side of what is called reality! I feel her presence now as much as always.
“Her light will never go out because the seeds of goodness she planted in all our lives will keep growing!”
Stella went on to thank supporters for recognizing Dolly’s “efforts and genuine intentions” and noted that the “outpouring of love” had provided comfort to the grieving family.
The family has faced compounded loss in recent weeks. “We are also grieving the loss of our brother Denver who passed less than a month before her,” Stella continued. Denver Parton died in late July, just weeks before Dolly’s death at age 80 following a brief cancer battle.
Stella framed the family’s difficulties as universal rather than unique to their fame. “All families have the same struggles since we are all living in this world having a human experience!”
She emphasized resilience for the sake of the next generation. “We are still intact and moving forward because our children and grandchildren look to us for strength and guidance during this difficult time of loss and confusion for them as well.”
The post also contained a direct reference to media coverage of the estate dispute. “Regardless of what you may have seen on different news outlets, we are all doing what you would be doing under the same circumstances, we are living our lives one day at a time and being grateful for every blessing.”
