Three people were hospitalized late Friday after a fight turned violent at a Fresno house party, authorities said.
The victims arrived at a hospital around 11 p.m., prompting police to trace their injuries back to a residence on the 4600 block of North Crystal Avenue, near Gettysburg Avenue, Fresno Police Lt. James Rossetti told The Fresno Bee. Officers determined all three had been involved in an altercation at the gathering.
Two of the stabbing victims were listed in stable condition with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. A third victim was listed in critical but stable condition.
No arrests had been made as of the initial report, and the incident remains under investigation.
Rossetti did not release details about what sparked the confrontation, the number of people involved in the fight, or whether any suspects had been identified. The Fresno Police Department has not provided additional updates on the search for potential assailants.
The North Crystal Avenue location sits in a residential area of northeast Fresno, roughly midway between downtown and the city’s eastern edge. House parties in the neighborhood have occasionally drawn police attention, though Friday’s violence marks a notably serious incident for the block.
The timing of the stabbing, just ahead of the July Fourth holiday weekend, added to a wave of violence across California. Separate incidents during the same period included a mass shooting at a child’s birthday party in Stockton that left four people dead and multiple others injured, as well as a shooting at a banquet hall in central California where three children were among four fatalities. A Woodland Hills house party shooting also killed a 16-year-old boy and wounded six others.
Fresno police have asked anyone with information about the North Crystal Avenue stabbing to come forward as detectives continue working the case.
