Actress Monet Mazur scared off three masked would-be burglars at her Hollywood Hills home after spotting them on security cameras late Saturday night.
Mazur, 49, was inside the hillside residence with her dog when at least three suspects dressed in black clothing and ski masks approached the property around 11:30 p.m., according to police. The “All American” star monitored the group through her security system and confronted them directly, causing them to flee before gaining entry.
The suspects reportedly scattered once they realized the home was occupied. LAPD responded to the scene and launched an extensive search of the surrounding area, including helicopter sweeps, but found no suspects.
Footage from the incident shows Mazur outside her home alongside her dog as LAPD officers investigate the attempted break-in. A police helicopter was filmed searching the nearby hillside, and pepper spray was visible on the doormat outside the residence following the confrontation.
The roughly two-bedroom property, valued at over $1.5 million, sits perched in the Hollywood Hills with views overlooking Los Angeles. Its secluded location off major streets is typical of affluent hillside neighborhoods that have become increasingly targeted by burglary crews.
Mazur has built a three-decade career in entertainment since breaking in during the early 1990s. She first gained notice as a model for brands including Gap before transitioning to film and television. Her acting credits span “Blow,” “Torque,” “Monster-in-Law,” “40 Days and 40 Nights” and “The House Bunny,” plus television appearances on “Castle,” “CSI: Miami” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.” She also served as a producer on “Snatch” and currently stars as Laura Fine-Baker on The CW’s football drama “All American.”
Beyond acting, Mazur has maintained ties to her artistic roots as the daughter of painter Ruby Mazur and has appeared in music videos throughout her career. She currently serves on the board of Watts Community Core, a Los Angeles community organization.
The attempted break-in reflects an ongoing pattern of residential burglaries plaguing Los Angeles, particularly in wealthy hillside enclaves where properties offer sweeping views but limited visibility from the street. LAPD Hollywood Division handled the response to Saturday night’s incident.
No arrests had been reported as of Sunday. LAPD has not released additional details about the suspects or whether the attempted burglary is believed to be connected to other area break-ins.
Mazur is expected to continue production on “All American,” which films in the Los Angeles area.
