Lil Wayne appears to have announced his engagement to 23-year-old Madi Cannon during a FaceTime call with fellow rapper B.G.
The five-time Grammy winner, 44, introduced Cannon as his fiancée in a clip posted Monday to B.G.’s Instagram account. The video captured a celebratory exchange that began with Wayne congratulating B.G. On his own engagement to Brooke Jones during the Cash Money-No Limit Records arena tour.
“And I’m marrying this one – this is Madison,” Wayne said in the clip, turning his camera toward Cannon as she stepped in behind his shoulder.
Cannon responded with a brief “congratulations,” and Wayne added: “This is my fiancée.”
He then volunteered for a role in B.G.’s wedding party. “Let us know what color we’re wearing. I’m the best man you hear me? Love you b***h,” he said.
B.G. Captioned the post: “My lil Brodie gave me his blessings @liltunechi.” He did not comment on Wayne’s apparent engagement.
The apparent announcement landed just days after Wayne celebrated his 44th birthday on September 27. It also came roughly three months after he explicitly denied being engaged to anyone.
Speaking during a live stream in July, Wayne addressed speculation about his relationship status. “I would like to clear something up. No, I’m not engaged. I had a beautiful thing going on with an amazing person, but, obviously, due to the validity of the temperature of today’s crazy world and culture, I considered, I don’t want to be such a burden on such an amazing person. So, we decided to part. Sucks,” he said.
The July denial followed reports in May that Wayne was engaged to a woman in her 20s from Indiana. Online users identified her as Cannon at that time, though neither she nor Wayne confirmed the connection.
Cannon, also known online as “Madi K,” is a social media influencer from Kokomo, Indiana.
Wayne, a record label executive, is a father of four. He married Antonia “Toya” Johnson on Valentine’s Day in 2004, and the couple divorced in 2006. They share one daughter, Reginae Carter. He also has three sons: Dwayne, 17, Kameron, 17, and Neal, 16, with Sarah Vivan, Lauren London and Nivea.
The FaceTime exchange was prompted by B.G.’s onstage proposal to Jones during the tour’s stop in New Orleans. The arena tour continues as B.G. And Wayne both now appear to be heading toward weddings.
