Jaime King is officially single again.
A Los Angeles judge signed off on the dissolution of the “Sin City” actress’s marriage to Austin Sosa, 34, on Friday, restoring both parties to single status, according to court documents. The ruling came less than two years after the couple secretly tied the knot and roughly six months after the investment banker first moved to end the union.
The judgment preserves Sosa’s right to pursue spousal support from King, 47, while terminating the court’s ability to award support to her from him. The former couple, who did not share any children, also had no shared assets or debts for the court to divide, Sosa stated in a June filing for a default or uncontested dissolution.
King was caught off guard when Sosa originally filed to end the marriage in January. “I was completely blindsided by the divorce filing, which came out of nowhere,” she said at the time.
The “White Chicks” actress elaborated on the shock, explaining, “I was with Austin the night before it became public, and while like many marriages, we had normal challenges, I genuinely believed we were working on our relationship.”
Sosa’s January petition cited “irreconcilable differences” and listed Nov. 11, as their date of separation. He moved to expedite the divorce proceedings this past June.
The filing arrived shortly after King had been spotted during multiple outings in Los Angeles with hotelier Vikram Chatwal, with whom she appeared to be getting cozy. King denied any romantic connection between herself and Chatwal, insisting the meetings were business-related.
“Any recent interactions being referenced publicly were strictly professional business meetings and have no connection to this private matter,” she said at the time.
The quickie marriage and equally swift divorce mark another chapter in King’s eventful personal life. The former model was previously married to director Kyle Newman for over a decade before their split in 2020, a separation that involved a lengthy custody battle over their two sons.
King and Sosa managed to keep their own wedding entirely under wraps until the divorce proceedings made the union public. The clandestine nature of the marriage stood in stark contrast to the very public unraveling that followed.
The actress has maintained that she believed the relationship was salvageable even as Sosa was preparing legal documents to dissolve it. Her insistence that the couple was addressing “normal challenges” common to marriages underscored the disconnect between their respective perceptions of the relationship’s health.
Sosa’s decision to reserve spousal support rights while eliminating King’s reciprocal claim suggests potential financial negotiations may still lie ahead despite the otherwise uncontested nature of the split. The absence of children or shared property simplified the legal proceedings considerably.
King’s representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment following Friday’s judgment.
The actress, who rose to fame in the early 2000s with roles in “Pearl Harbor” and later found cult status with “Sin City,” has increasingly focused on directing and producing in recent years. She made her feature directorial debut with the 2023 film “The Space Between.”
King is expected to continue promotion for her upcoming projects in Los Angeles.
