Kim Kardashian has opened up about the five-year stretch she spent single before her romance with Lewis Hamilton.
The Skims founder, 45, told the Times’ Style Magazine that after splitting from Kanye West in 2021, she deliberately stepped back from dating to focus on herself and her family. Apart from a nine-month relationship with Pete Davidson in 2022, she described herself as “really single for five years.”
“I really felt no rush,” she said in the interview. “Like, I really didn’t feel empty. I felt like I needed my time.”
Kardashian called the break from relationships “great,” explaining that it allowed her to concentrate on her four children — North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7 — and on business projects she wanted to pursue. She and West, the “Stronger” rapper, ended their marriage after nearly seven years together.
“I wasn’t ready to open up,” she continued. “I really wasn’t even thinking about it. The universe works in your favour when you just allow it to.”
The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star and the Formula 1 driver have known each other since 2014, but they only went public with their relationship in February. They attended the Super Bowl together in Southern California, where they watched the Seattle Seahawks defeat the New England Patriots.
Since then, the couple has mostly kept their relationship private, though Hamilton has occasionally shared glimpses of their time together on social media. In July, he posted photos of the couple showing PDA during a family getaway on Instagram, captioning the images with a message urging followers to “hold your people close.”
He followed up in August with intimate date photos he had not previously shared, writing, “Resting, restoring, recharging 🔋🔋🔋.”
Kardashian has also posted about the relationship, sharing a mirror selfie in which she wore a pink Gucci bikini while Hamilton reached around her waist.
The reality star’s divorce from West has not been without its difficulties. In a September 2025 Vogue cover story, she revealed that her mother, Kris Jenner, had told her that “the coming years would be the best of [her] life.”
Despite the challenges of dating within the Kardashian family’s high-profile world, Davidson spoke warmly of his ex last month in an interview. The comedian, 32, acknowledged that the environment could be intense for partners.
“Look, man, that’s a really tough atmosphere if you’re not game,” he said.
“One of the things I love about Kim and that whole family is they’re like, ‘This is what we do,'” Davidson added. “I found that very attractive and mature.”
Kardashian and Davidson dated for nine months in 2022, during which he appeared on her family’s Hulu reality series. Their split that August came shortly before she began her extended period of being single.
The “American Horror Story” actress told the Times that her goal during those years was to “completely heal and just work on” herself following the turbulent end of her marriage to West.
Kardashian is scheduled to appear at the Skims flagship store opening in New York.
