Taylor Swift crashed Dakota Johnson’s “Saturday Night Live” monologue to play the actress’s self-appointed therapist.
Johnson, 37, was hosting the NBC sketch show for the second time when she began riffing on her history with musicians during her opening remarks last Saturday. The “Fifty Shades of Grey” star joked about her “two very public, very lame breakups with two very awesome musicians” and noted that her relationships had become something of a pattern.
“Some of them don’t wear shoes, some of them are terrible in bed. All of them are in my DMs. Not my fault, though. Some people leave concerts with merch, I leave concerts with a two-and-a-half-year relationship,” Johnson quipped from the 30 Rock stage.
She added that her friends refused to judge her dating choices, calling them “really supportive.” That setup brought Swift, 35, walking out to thunderous applause.

“Ladies and gentlemen, my literal therapist,” Johnson announced.
Swift immediately pushed back on the framing. “I’m not your therapist, actually. You just show up at my house once a week with an empty bottle of wine and ask me if I want some,” the “Fortnight” singer said.
“Yeah, I have manners,” Johnson replied.
Swift continued the bit, describing their actual dynamic: “And then you flop on my couch and overshare and every so often I just say, ‘Damn, that’s crazy.’ Then I go, ‘It’s late, I should really go to bed.’ And then you say …”

“Sleepover yay!” Johnson interrupted.
“Then I give you a Pedialyte and my security drives you home,” Swift finished, patting Johnson on the back.

Johnson also claimed her musician-dating habit constituted a public service, telling the studio audience she was saving women “a lot of money” on the antidepressant Zoloft. “So you’re welcome, America. Also England and parts of Ireland and Cleveland, allegedly,” she said, nodding to unconfirmed rumors linking her to Machine Gun Kelly, the Cleveland-born rapper.
Swift whooped at the Cleveland reference, a nod to her husband Travis Kelce’s hometown and the city where the couple plans to settle.
The “Cruel Summer” singer then pivoted the moment by pointing out that Johnson was celebrating her birthday that very night. Swift exited, but returned at the show’s close to surprise Johnson with a birthday cake as the credits rolled.

The appearance marked Swift’s ninth time on “SNL” across various roles: four stints as musical guest, one hosting gig, and now four cameos. The two women have developed a visible friendship beyond the sketch show. Johnson stars alongside Colin Farrell in “Patient Zero,” Swift’s latest music video, which she also directed and appeared in. The clip debuted during last Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, casting Johnson and Farrell as a wealthy couple whose marriage unravels.
Johnson’s romantic history with musicians stretches back nearly two decades. She dated Noah Gersh from 2007 to 2010, followed by Drowners frontman Mathew Hitt from 2014 to 2016. Her relationship with Coldplay’s Chris Martin ran from 2017 until earlier this year. She was briefly linked to musician Role Model before their split, and more recent reports have connected her to Machine Gun Kelly after the two allegedly hit it off at Swift and Kelce’s wedding in July.
