Gypsy Rose Blanchard Addresses Ken Urker’s Sister’s Claims of Tension Following His Death

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has broken her silence on the rift with her late fiancé’s sister.

Blanchard, 35, issued a statement on Saturday addressing claims from Autumn Urker that the Urker family was “disgusted” with her behavior following Ken Urker’s unexpected death. Autumn had said that Blanchard failed to call any family members after the tragedy and accused her of humiliating her brother.

“At this time, I do not want the focus surrounding Ken’s passing to become centered on negativity or disagreements between Autumn and me,” Blanchard said.

“It is no secret that Autumn did not approve of Ken’s relationship with me, and there has been significant tension between us, including public comments she made about me in the months leading up to his passing.”

Blanchard maintained that her priority was “grieving Ken, supporting our daughter and honoring his memory.” She confirmed she remained “still in communication” with Urker’s family and noted that “aside from my relationship with Autumn, those communications have been positive and respectful during an incredibly painful time.”

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed Group that Ken Urker, 34, was found unresponsive at a Louisiana home on October 1. The Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office said that an autopsy has been completed but “there is no definitive cause of death,” adding that “the case remains pending completion of toxicology testing.”

Autumn Urker went live on TikTok after her brother’s death, revealing through tears that his final words to her were “I love you,” though the timing of that conversation remains unclear. In her interview, she also alleged that Ken had expressed fear that Blanchard would not keep their daughter “safe” and claimed he felt “humiliated” by her.

Blanchard and Urker’s history stretches back to 2017, when they began corresponding while she was still serving prison time for her role in her mother’s death. Urker proposed in 2018, but the couple split the following year. After Blanchard’s divorce from Ryan Anderson, she and Urker reconnected in 2024. They welcomed daughter Aurora in December 2024.

Shortly after Urker’s death, Blanchard posted a tribute on Instagram alongside photos and videos of the couple.

“You will always be my greatest love story. You will be remembered and loved forever,” she wrote.

On Sunday, Blanchard announced she had launched an online petition called “Kenan’s Law” to combat social media harassment in the wake of her partner’s death.

“Kenan’s Law is about changing the way social-media platforms handle repeated reports of harassment,” she explained. “One post viewed alone may not tell the whole story—but hundreds of posts, videos and comments directed at one person can reveal a pattern that deserves meaningful review.”

She continued: “This is not about silencing criticism or taking away anyone’s freedom of speech. Public figures can and should be criticized. But public figures are still human beings, and fame should never erase someone’s humanity.”

Blanchard’s prison correspondence with Urker began while she was serving a 10-year sentence for second-degree murder in the 2015 stabbing death of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. The case drew national attention after it emerged that Dee Dee had subjected her daughter to years of medical child abuse, fabricating illnesses and forcing unnecessary treatments. Gypsy Rose pleaded guilty in 2016 and was paroled in December 2023 after serving roughly eight years. Her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn, who carried out the actual killing, is serving a life sentence in Missouri.

Blanchard’s petition remains active as toxicology results in Urker’s death are pending.
