Carrot Top was photographed grinning during a church service Sunday in his first public appearance since his release from the hospital.
The 61-year-old comedian, born Scott Christopher Thompson, attended St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Las Vegas dressed in a blue collared shirt, jeans and black shoes, according to photos. The sighting came roughly two weeks after he was discharged following a suicide attempt at his Las Vegas home on Sept. 18.
Thompson had been in critical condition when he was found unconscious near his backyard pool. His manager had requested a welfare check after a disturbing phone call and text exchange. During the call, Thompson allegedly expressed concerns about an article set to be published regarding sexual misconduct allegations, then hung up before texting his manager “done” minutes later. That single word prompted the manager to contact police.
The comedian underwent hospital care until around Sept. 26, when reports said he was recovering at home.
The suicide attempt unfolded amid an ongoing legal battle with former opener Brian Evans, who previously worked with Thompson at his long-standing Luxor Hotel and Casino residency. Evans allegedly threatened to release a sexually explicit video of Thompson if he wasn’t paid $500,000, according to the legal filings. Evans denied the allegations, saying he “never threatened” to post the video in exchange for a settlement. Evans also claimed that the video was “deleted a long time ago.”
Thompson’s lawyer sought protective relief in the legal battle following the suicide attempt.
Thompson has performed at the Luxor since 2005, but his show remains on hiatus with no confirmed return date. His Saturday performance was canceled while he remained hospitalized, reports said.
The church appearance marked a notably different scene from the emergency response at his home weeks earlier, where police intervention and hospitalization followed what authorities documented as a suspected overdose on prescription medication.
Thompson’s legal team confirmed the suicide attempt for the first time in a court filing, reports said. The disclosure came as the entertainer’s representatives had initially declined to comment on the nature of his hospitalization.
Evans has continued to dispute the extortion claims through media statements while the legal proceedings advance. Thompson’s camp has pursued court protections as he recovers.
The comedian’s Sunday church outing showed him walking among the congregation with a visible smile, his first documented public moment since the incident that briefly placed him in critical condition.
Thompson’s show at the Luxor remains dark with no announced date for his comeback to the venue where he has headlined for nearly two decades.
