Dakota Johnson, 37, marked her birthday with a star-studded dinner in Manhattan on Monday evening, trading the “SNL” stage for an intimate table at Via Carota.
The “Verity” actress had already kicked off the celebrations two nights earlier when Taylor Swift surprised her with a birthday cake during her hosting gig on the sketch show Saturday. Swift, 35, joined Johnson on-stage during her monologue and later slipped into the after-party once the broadcast wrapped.
But the pop superstar was absent from Monday’s more private affair. Instead, Jennifer Lawrence, 34, and her husband Cooke Maroney, 40, helped Johnson ring in the actual birthday alongside other close friends and family members at the West Village Italian hotspot.
Johnson arrived dressed in head-to-toe black that nodded to the Halloween season. She wore a completely sheer black lace Stella McCartney dress with black velvet panels that left her black underwear visible underneath. The actress had previously worn the same design in March at a Paul McCartney concert, though that time she skipped the jacket.
This time she layered a mink-trimmed Nour Hammour leather jacket over the look, retailing at $2,120. Her footwear came from The Row, with strappy sandals priced at $890, and she carried a Sylvia Gnecchi chainmail bag worth $1,040.
The birthday girl piled on diamonds for the occasion. She sported Jessica McCormack hoop drop earrings, a Toteme drop necklace valued at $690, and two Sophie Bille Brahe rings spelling out her initials — “D” and “J” — with each ring commanding $12,500.
The dinner capped a busy weekend for Johnson, who made her “Saturday Night Live” hosting debut on October 18. Swift’s on-stage cake presentation during the monologue quickly became a highlight of the episode, though the singer kept a lower profile at the after-party that followed.
