A Los Angeles Dodgers fan flatly refused to hand over a foul ball to a disappointed young Atlanta Braves supporter despite a stadium-wide chant urging him to do so.
The incident unfolded Tuesday night during Game 3 of the National League Division Series at Dodger Stadium. The fan, wearing a Yoshinobu Yamamoto jersey, snagged a foul ball and was immediately met with calls from surrounding spectators to gift it to a child nearby. A fellow fan captured the exchange on video, which has since exploded across social media platforms.
The amateur footage shows the moment the crowd began pressuring the fan. “Give it to the kid! Give it to the kid!” the person filming can be heard shouting.
The fan then looked directly into the camera, shrugged, and fired back, “I’m sorry, I can’t! I’m not giving it to the kid! I feel bad, but I’m not giving it to the kid!”

The video then panned to reveal the child in question, a young boy sporting a Braves jersey with a visibly disappointed expression. When the camera returned to the Dodgers fan, he was seen gloating over his prize and even posing for a photograph with the ball.
The clip’s spread has been staggering. One X user who reposted the footage amassed over 2.6 million views in approximately 12 hours. The original TikTok posting has also racked up nearly one million views.
The moment has reignited a longstanding debate among baseball fans about whether adults who catch balls at games have any obligation to surrender them to children. Some argue that a fair catch belongs to the person who made it, while others maintain that grown fans should default to passing the souvenir to younger attendees.

This particular Dodgers fan made his position unmistakable, offering no apology for keeping the ball beyond acknowledging he “felt bad.”
An X user who shared the footage appended their own commentary to the repost, writing, “Normalize keeping the ball if you caught it fair & square ⚾️.”
The Dodgers went on to defeat the Braves in Tuesday’s contest, taking a commanding lead in the series and moving one step closer to advancing past the divisional round.

The Braves now face elimination as the series continues, with the next game scheduled to take place in Atlanta.
