Gypsy Rose Blanchard Confessed to Stabbing a Headboard in a Jealous Rage Over Ken Urker Before His Tragic Death

Gypsy Rose Blanchard admitted to a violent outburst against Ken Urker’s belongings in a newly surfaced phone call from one year before his death.

The “Life After Lockup” alum, 35, described the September 2024 incident to her incarcerated friend Amelia Bird in a call on Thursday. Blanchard said she discovered a letter Urker had written to an ex-girlfriend, then spent hours drinking before returning to their home in a rage.

“I stayed out until maybe 5,” she told Bird, detailing a cocktail of “vodka, tequila, rum and whiskey,” She continued, “I go to that headboard and I stab the motherf–king headboard, and I carved ‘whore’ in the headboard. And I put a note that said, ‘Sleep with your one and only. -G.'”

The destruction extended beyond the headboard. Blanchard also smashed a framed photograph of the couple, sending glass “everywhere,” and shredded a custom blanket she had made for Urker. Video obtained by the outlet shows her screaming during the blanket destruction: “‘This is how I feel about you! Lies, lies, lies! …. F–k you!'” She additionally scattered their prison correspondence “up in the air like money” and cut up the blanket with scissors.

After the rampage, Blanchard packed a suitcase and fled to her parents’ house, she recounted to Bird. From there, she fired off a barrage of drunken text messages to Urker. “‘You’re a piece of s–t.’ … ‘I never wanna see you again.’ Still drunk as f–k,” she recalled writing.

Urker’s response was swift and serious. He threatened to file for sole custody of their daughter Aurora, now 1, and labeled Blanchard “a danger to [her]self and others around” her. The threat of losing her child appeared to give Blanchard pause. “I’ve not treated him like I should have,” she admitted to Bird. “I’ve always accused him of cheating, drama drama drama, so if he was done I wouldn’t blame him for real.”

The conversation also revealed Blanchard’s awareness of how her history amplified the incident’s impact. “There are people close to me like, ‘You scared the f–k out of him. You know what you were in prison for, to take out a knife in anger and lash out at an object?'” she shared. “Because of my history, it freaks people out, let’s be real. It freaks people out.”

Autumn Urker, Ken’s sister, confirmed that she learned of the headboard incident and found it deeply alarming. She confronted her brother six months after it happened, warning him that Blanchard’s “pattern” of behavior could “escalate.” Her concerns, she said, “just fell on deaf ears” — the couple had reconciled by then.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, currently investigating Urker’s Oct. 1 death, told the outlet they were aware of the headboard incident but it had never been officially reported. Even if it had been, charges would not have been filed since only personal property was damaged.

By the time Urker was found dead in his Louisiana home on what would have been his 34th birthday, the couple had already separated. A source said the split occurred roughly a month prior and was mutual. “They both just amicably, a month ago, said let’s just leave it here, have our space, and see where we’re at,” the source said. “It was nothing nasty…It was just a mutual agreement. They were co-parenting.”

Blanchard initially characterized Urker’s death as an “overdose” in her first public statement. She later posted an Instagram tribute writing, “You will always be my greatest love story. You will be remembered and loved forever. ❤️.”

Blanchard is expected to attend Urker’s family memorial service for him in Texas.
