Britney Spears, 44, declared she remains “bitter” about her 13-year conservatorship in a raw Instagram post over the weekend.
The post, which has since been deleted, accompanied one of her signature lingerie videos showing her walking through her home in lacy black underwear, a matching bra, and black leather boots. The outlet reviewed the caption before it was removed.
“They say the crazy ones are usually the best…I will admit it, I wasn’t crazy I used to be f—-g literally insane, but the ironic part is there’s a madness and a constant rush of just sitting still with the way my heart used to work,” she wrote on Instagram.
Spears continued, “Yes, I’m bitter, all the hours, seconds, time, and secretly, subconsciously knowing my capabilities as a woman.”
The “Stronger” singer claimed that for 15 years, she couldn’t “fly somewhere just to meet a friend” because of her grueling job. She added a striking detail about her restricted life: “And just five years ago, I was able to hold my first one-dollar bill…And people sit back and honestly say I’m the crazy one…Jesus f*****g Christ…”
The pop star was placed under conservatorship in February 2008 following public mental health and personal crises, including her 2007 umbrella incident. She remained under her father’s control for more than a decade.
In July 2021, Spears broke her silence before California Judge Brenda Penny in a court hearing that drew global attention. “I’m here to get rid of my dad and charge him with conservatorship abuse,” she told the judge.
She continued, “I thought they were trying to kill me… If this is not abuse, I don’t know what is,” calling the arrangement “f–king cruelty.”
Her conservatorship was terminated in November 2021. Spears has since remained estranged from both parents, including her mother, Lynn Spears.
Following her release, Spears married longtime partner Sam Asghari in 2022, though the couple divorced in 2024. She published a tell-all memoir in October 2023 that detailed her experiences under the conservatorship.
Despite the family rift with her parents, Spears maintains a relationship with her two sons, Sean Preston, 21, and Jayden James, 19, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
The singer’s recent legal troubles include a March 4 arrest for DUI. Her attorney pled guilty on her behalf in May, accepting a “wet reckless” plea deal on the lesser charge. She received one year of informal probation and was ordered to complete a mandatory three-month alcohol school totaling 30 hours.
