Trump Reveals Who Will Receive $5,000 Checks and Makes New Promise Ahead of Elections

President Trump, 78, has issued a fresh video pledge that every adult citizen in the United States will receive $5,000 if Republicans sweep the upcoming midterm elections.

The president delivered the message directly to voters in a self-recorded clip, framing the cash promise as a stark contrast between the two parties’ economic visions. Trump said the payout would come alongside what he predicted would be unprecedented national prosperity under GOP control.

“I’m going to give all adult citizens in the United States of America $5,000,” Trump said in the video message.

“Democrat policies won’t allow this to happen, in fact the opposite,” he continued. “They’re going to raise your taxes, and if they win, you will have an economic depression.”

Trump added: “If the Republicans win, you will each have $5,000 in your pocket, and economic success for our country like we have never ever seen before.”

The timing lands with midterm campaigning intensifying and economic anxiety ranking among voters’ top concerns. The elections are scheduled for November 3.

Yet the proposal arrived without any detailed funding mechanism attached. David Zervos, counselor to the Treasury Secretary, acknowledged in an interview with the National News Desk that the administration has not mapped out how to pay for the checks.

“I mean, I think there’s a little bit of, a little bit of we’ll cross that bridge when we get there,” Zervos said.

Despite the absence of concrete financing plans, Zervos expressed confidence that economic growth under a Republican sweep would generate sufficient revenue. “Most importantly, I think the President has offered that up, to suggest that growth and economic strength and prosperity will be high enough under a sweep that we will be able to afford to send those things out,” he noted.

The video message and subsequent Treasury comments triggered immediate pushback across social media, with critics accusing Trump of attempting to purchase electoral support. Multiple users framed the promise as legally dubious and politically motivated.

“You’re literally bribing Americans to vote,” one commenter wrote. “I can’t wait for Democrats to win the house and the Senate and immediately impeach you.”

Another user fired back: “This is 100% illegal and an impeachable offense. There is no question about it.”

Some responses referenced previous unfulfilled financial promises from the administration. “I’m still waiting for my DOGE and Tariff checks you promised us,” one person noted.

Additional commenters dismissed the announcement outright as unworkable. “You have no authority to cut checks and you can’t use bribery to buy the midterm elections,” one wrote, while another branded it a “straight up lie.”

The $5,000 pledge marks Trump’s most direct attempt to tie personal financial gain to Republican electoral success, with the president himself making clear the payment is conditional on his party’s victory rather than guaranteed policy.

The midterm elections will be held November 3.
