Reality TV Star Lydia Plath Suffers Pregnancy Loss and Releases Heartbreaking Statement

Lydia Plath and Zac Wyse have announced the loss of their first child in a joint Instagram post.

The Welcome to Plathville star, 22, and her husband shared the news on Tuesday, October 14, revealing they were grieving what they called their “greatest love” and a “true miracle.” The couple had publicly shared their pregnancy news before the tragedy struck.

Plath and Wyse married in 2025 after a four-month engagement, and the pregnancy had represented a shift from their earlier stated timeline. During the eighth-season premiere of Welcome to Plathville in March, Wyse had told viewers the pair planned to wait a year before starting a family so they could travel together first.

“We’re planning to wait a year before we start a family,” he said during filming, adding that they had “a lot of places” they wanted to visit.

Plath had agreed that children would alter their travel plans, though she maintained it wouldn’t mean abandoning that part of their lives. “It’s not that we’re going to stop traveling when we have kids,” she explained on the show. “There will just be fewer and far between, and more special because there’ll be more people to share with.”

The couple’s vision for their future family had been expansive. Speaking to the outlet in 2025, Plath said she and Wyse were considering having “three to five” children as part of a brood that would be “not too small, not too big.”

“We’re still playing it by ear,” she added at the time. “We’re doing our best.”

In their October 14 Instagram announcement, the couple addressed their lost child directly with raw emotion. “There’s no words for the pain as we grieve the loss of our little angel,” they wrote.

“Our first child, our greatest love, and a true miracle. We’re so grateful for the short time we had with our baby bean.”

The message emphasized how eagerly anticipated the baby had been among their circle. “You were so loved and celebrated every day we had with you,” they continued. “You were the talk and the joy of our lives with family, honorary aunts and uncles and friends. All so excited to love you and meet you but now you’re gone too soon.”

The post carried an additional layer of sorrow through its reference to Plath’s late younger brother, Joshua, who died in a farming accident in 2008 at just 17 months old. “Give my brother a hug for me,” Plath wrote, addressing her lost child. “Can’t wait to meet you in heaven.”

Joshua’s death has long been part of the Plath family history featured on their reality series. Kim and Barry Plath raised 10 children, with Lydia among them, and the family has openly discussed the lasting impact of the toddler’s accident.

The pregnancy had followed Plath’s on-camera declaration of maternal readiness. During that March premiere, she told Wyse directly that she was “ready to be a mother,” setting up the narrative arc that would lead to their eventual announcement and now their loss.
