Selena Gomez has revealed how she and husband Benny Blanco marked their first wedding anniversary.
The “Only Murders in the Building” star, 34, disclosed the low-key celebration during her fourth annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit. Gomez and Blanco, 37, exchanged vows on September 27, in a ceremony attended by Taylor Swift, Paris Hilton, and co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short. The couple opted for an intimate night in rather than a glamorous outing for the milestone.
“We actually just ate a piece of cake and watched videos in our pajamas,” Gomez told Extra at the gala.
“We’re so cheesy!”
The videos were from their own wedding day, Gomez clarified, offering a glimpse into the private nature of their year-long marriage. The Rare Beauty founder has maintained a relatively quiet personal life since the nuptials, which came after roughly two years of dating.

Swift, 35, who attended the wedding, later revealed she had given a speech at the reception. Speaking to Jimmy Fallon, the “Bad Blood” singer said she deliberately avoided mentioning her own engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce, which had occurred just weeks before Gomez and Blanco’s ceremony. Swift and Kelce subsequently married in a top-secret New York ceremony on July 3.
The anniversary revelation came during an evening focused on youth mental health, a cause Gomez has championed through her Rare Impact Fund. The tone of the event shifted as she addressed recent losses in the entertainment community, including the death of “Breaking Bad” actor RJ Mitte and Presley Gerber, son of Cindy Crawford, who died by suicide on September 20 at age 27.
“It’s actually making me so sad,” Gomez said of the untimely deaths.

She continued: “This is getting really hard to even look through the news, but I’m grateful we have things like this because it does remind people that we can take a step forward, slowly but surely.”
Gomez has been transparent about her own mental health struggles throughout her career. She explained her reasoning for that openness at the benefit, tying it to the mission of her brand and foundation.
“I think it’s important for people to know that sometimes things look a lot shinier in pictures and that it’s okay to feel not okay sometimes and where you can turn and the people that you really can depend on, and hopefully Rare can have a good community that people can feel safe,” she said.

The wedding itself had drawn significant attention for its star power and a notable mishap involving Martin Short, who later acknowledged his blunder from the couple’s big day. The guest list reflected Gomez’s standing across music, television, and fashion circles, with Swift’s presence generating particular interest given the timing of her own engagement.
Blanco, a music producer, has shared details of the relationship in recent months, including a podcast appearance where he discussed fulfilling a childhood dream of Gomez’s through their wedding. He also made headlines for a separate interview about his diet, claiming he lost weight after eating only pizza for a week.
Gomez and Blanco’s relationship timeline spans from professional collaborators to romantic partners, with their friendship predating their public confirmation of dating in late 2023. The couple maintained a relatively private courtship before announcing their engagement and subsequent marriage.
The Rare Impact Fund Benefit serves as the flagship fundraising event for Gomez’s mental health initiative, which directs resources toward youth-focused programs globally. This year’s edition marked the fourth consecutive gathering, with Gomez using her platform to address both personal celebrations and broader community concerns.
Gomez is next scheduled to appear at the Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
