North West responds after her face tattoos and piercings spark ‘demonic’ accusations

North West, 13, has spoken out on TikTok to reject claims that her goth-inspired appearance is “demonic.”

The daughter of Kim Kardashian, 45, and Kanye West took to a livestream with her mother to push back against months of online commentary about her facial piercings, fake tattoos, colored contacts, and dark wardrobe. The teen has drawn headlines since late last year for the bold aesthetic, which she has paired with spiked jewelry, “shark teeth,” and bright blue hair.

“I’m not demonic guys, stop saying I’m demonic. No, I’m not. Just because I like to dress this way, don’t judge a book by its cover,” West said during the TikTok livestream.

When Kardashian suggested the piercings and black grills might be fueling the perception, the teen fired back: “Yeah but I don’t know why you guys should put that with demonic because I don’t get that.”

West revealed that she deliberately wore all white for her first-ever performance at Chicago’s Vic Theatre to counter the rumors. “I was like, if I’m going to do my first show ever, I gotta come like an angel, all white,” she shared. “Because you guys know I’m not on that demon stuff. I believe in Jesus. That’s how I came to show you guys I’m actually a light, not dark.”

The mother-daughter livestream also addressed speculation that West’s style shift stemmed from her parents’ high-profile divorce. Kardashian pushed back by revealing her daughter’s early interest in alternative looks. “When she was a baby, dropping her off at school, all she wanted was… Her septum pierced or her eyebrow pierced,” Kardashian said. “She would do like a double brow, just like in pre-K, going in with fake piercings.”

West added her own rebuttal: “So you guys can’t say, ‘where did the style come [from]?’, ‘is this style from the divorce?’ No, queen.”

The livestream marks the most direct response yet from West herself, though Kardashian has previously stepped in to shield her eldest child from public scrutiny. In November, when West showed off a finger piercing that one expert called “particularly risky,” a TikTok user commented: “North West getting a finger piercing is breaking my heart, just me?” Kardashian, posting from the shared @kimandnorth account, replied: “It’s okay,” alongside a heart hands emoji.

Under California law, minors under 18 can only receive body piercings with parental permission and in the presence of a parent or guardian, indicating Kardashian has approved of the procedures.

The ongoing attention to West’s appearance has included warnings from experts urging young people not to copy her more extreme modifications. Yet the teen’s latest statements frame her aesthetic choices as personal expression rather than rebellion or anything tied to her family situation.
