A Texas family called police after a barefoot man in a Joe Biden mask appeared at their door after dark and ate a banana while staring into their Nest camera.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. Sunday at the family’s home in Watauga, roughly 10 miles outside Fort Worth, according to doorbell footage reviewed by WFAA. The man walked up to the porch, opened his jacket to reveal a white T-shirt with “FREEDOM” printed across the chest, and began peeling the fruit.
He nodded his head as he worked the peel, then leaned close to the lens for an eerie close-up of the latex Biden mask. He tapped the camera twice, as though trying to ring the doorbell, took a bite, stared directly into the lens, and walked away.
The family turned the footage over to Watauga police, but officers determined no crime had taken place. Chief Jim Lewis told WFAA that officers searched the neighborhood without locating the man.
“Although the individual’s choice of attire and snack may have raised a few eyebrows, neither appears to have violated the law at this time,” Lewis said.
“And while we can’t explain the costume, the banana, or the apparent political identity crisis, we can confirm that being bizarre is not, in itself, a criminal offense.”
The department has since learned of social media posts from other residents describing similar masked-man sightings, though police said no additional footage was available for release.
Lewis continued that “the Watauga Police Department takes these types of reports seriously, however, and we encourage residents to continue reporting suspicious activity, even when the circumstances are a little bananas.”
The video’s spread online drew baffled responses. On WFAA’s Instagram post, one user wrote, “This is scary and so confusing at the same time.” Another asked simply, “Why’s he eating a banana.” A third warned, “Don’t play with people’s doors. Nothing good will come from it.”
The T-shirt’s design appeared similar to one worn by Charlie Kirk during an appearance at Utah Valley University in September 2025, the footage shows. Kirk, the conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder, was not involved in the Watauga incident.
The masked visitor never spoke, attempted entry, or produced anything beyond the banana. Police have not identified him or suggested a motive for the stunt.
