Nick Reiner rocked in his chair throughout his latest court hearing as supporters looked on from the gallery.
The 33-year-old, son of slain actor-director Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, appeared more antsy and alert than usual during the Wednesday proceeding in Los Angeles Superior Court. He looked directly at Judge Sam Ohta and his legal team when responding to them.

Reiner wore handcuffs on both wrists, though they were not connected to each other or attached to the chair he repeatedly rocked back and forth in. He also debuted a new look, having cut his hair and left prominent sideburns while shaving the remainder of his face.
At least two fans were seated in the courtroom’s gallery, and they did not appear to be immediate family members.

Wednesday’s hearing was a continuation from Oct. 7. Judge Ohta once again extended the proceeding, this time setting the next date for Jan. 13.
Ohta said Wednesday that Nick was “indicted unbeknownst to his counsel.” The judge feels it is appropriate to give the defense team more time, arguing that public access to the grand jury transcripts and exhibits that led to Nick’s July indictment is not more important than his rights.
Reiner was indicted by a grand jury in July. The charges stem from the killing of his father, Rob Reiner, the acclaimed filmmaker behind “When Harry Met Sally…” and “A Few Good Men.” The elder Reiner was found dead at his Los Angeles home, and authorities quickly focused on his son as the suspect.
The case has drawn significant media attention given the prominence of the Reiner family in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, 78, was a fixture of American entertainment for decades, first gaining fame as Michael “Meathead” Stivic on “All in the Family” before becoming one of the most successful comedy directors of his generation.
Nick Reiner has made multiple court appearances since his arrest. The hearings have been marked by procedural delays as his defense team works through the evidence against him.
The next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 13 in Los Angeles.
