Trans Man and Wife Expect First Baby Using His Eggs and Her Womb

Taylor Winters and his wife Chloe are expecting their first child after undergoing IVF using his frozen eggs and her womb.

The couple, who began fertility treatment in February 2026, fell pregnant on their second round of IVF in May and are preparing to welcome a baby girl in January 2027. Winters, 42, is a trans man who grew up in Transylvania, Romania, and moved to the UK nine years ago. Chloe, 33, works as a social media manager in Watford, Hertfordshire.

Winters told his parents he was a boy from age five and would cut his hair, refuse to wear skirts, and tried to “pee like a boy.” His family was supportive. He moved to Germany with a partner in March 2014, then relocated to the UK in March 2015 after that relationship ended. There he met Chloe in 2016, and she helped him through his transition process.

After physiological assessments, Winters started testosterone in November 2017 at age 34. Before beginning hormones, he decided to freeze his eggs because he had always wanted to be a parent but had never seen himself being pregnant. He found the physical changes “exciting” — growing a beard, hearing his voice drop — and felt “whole” after top surgery in October 2019. He underwent a hysterectomy in November 2023.

“It was such a liberating feeling,” he said. “It was amazing not having to hide my chest – to go the beach and not have to wear a bra.”

The couple used a sperm donor they were matched with in 2022. Their IVF process cost over $9,000. Chloe described the emotional toll of the first failed attempt and the relief of their second try.

“We had to start on hormones for a good few weeks before we were actually allowed to start the IVF process,” she said. “I had my first round of IVF in March 2026, and that went well.”

“After the IVF had happened, we had to pick the best graded fertilised embryos to be implanted,” she continued. “You have to wait 11 days at our clinic to see if it had worked or not. My first round didn’t work, and I had to wait for my period to come back and start hormones again during that time.”

The couple refused to wait long between attempts. “After the first round, we both felt crushed but felt really determined to not let a big stretch of time go by and try again straight away,” Chloe said.

The morning of the second test brought sleepless anticipation. “11 days later, about 5 a.m., we couldn’t sleep the night before, knowing it was test day,” she recalled. “We woke up at 5 a.m. And said, ‘let’s just do it’. It was amazing and such an amazing feeling, especially after having such devastating news the first time around.”

Chloe is now 24 weeks pregnant and says things have been going “really well.” The couple has been documenting her growing bump roughly every two weeks and cherishing the medical milestones. “It’s been great fun to see the changes and getting to see the baby’s heartbeat and seeing all the scans,” she said. “We’re super excited to be new parents. It’s been quite a long journey from the very beginning, a long process.”

Winters has attended every appointment to support his wife through the pregnancy. “For me, I’ve been there supporting and I’ve been to every single appointment and supporting her as much as I can,” he said. “She’s going through it, it’s the least I can do. The feeling of holding our baby girl for the first time is just going to be amazing.”

The couple plans to expand their family further using Chloe’s eggs and the same sperm donor, so each partner will have a biological connection to one of their children. “From my perspective, I always wanted to have biological kids, but I didn’t want to be pregnant,” Winters explained. “We’re using both our eggs to start a family so we each have a biological connection.”

Chloe emphasized that their path to parenthood reflects ordinary desires shared by many couples. “I’ve always wanted a family of my own, ever since I was little. Having our own biological kids just felt right for us as it does for a lot of couples – we’re no different,” she said. “Having IVF as an option for us is such a blessing. We both have a lot of love to give and have the best family and support around us, and our children would always be loved and accepted for who they are. You can be in a healthy and happy relationship if you’re transgender.”
