Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer are officially divorced.
The estranged couple settled their divorce in New York Supreme Court, with the case status now listed as disposed, though the exact finalization date remains unclear since divorce cases are sealed in New York. Schumer, 45, and Fischer, 46, had submitted a proposed divorce judgment to the court on Sept. 25, along with orders concerning support for their 7-year-old son, Gene.

The “Trainwreck” star filed for divorce in January after seven years of marriage, a month after confirming their separation on social media. “Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” she captioned a lengthy December 2025 Instagram post.
“We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son.”
She added, “We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.”

Schumer also moved quickly to shut down speculation about the reasons behind their split. “Blah blah blah not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basket and not because he’s a hot Janlmes beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever,” she wrote in a follow-up Instagram post.

The comedian had addressed similar chatter shortly before confirming the separation, writing on Instagram in early December, “Whatever ends up happening with me and Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism.”

Rumors about trouble in the marriage had circulated for years before the official announcement. In 2021, Fischer fanned the flames when he gifted Schumer a 40th birthday cake that said, “I’m leaving you. This was the only way I could think to do it.”
Sources claimed at the time of their separation that the split was “a long time coming.” “With those career goals and her being a mother, she didn’t focus much on her marriage to make that succeed,” a source said at the time.

The source claimed, “She’s realized you can’t have everything and the thing that suffered most was her marriage. Now she is trying to figure it all out one day at a time.”

Schumer was allegedly “equal amounts [of] happy and sad” about the end of the relationship.

The couple’s romance had moved quickly from the start. Schumer and Fischer secretly married in 2018 and welcomed their son Gene in 2019. The “I Feel Pretty” actress had previously kept details of their relationship relatively private, with the surprise wedding catching fans off guard.

The divorce settlement brings to a close a chapter that included both public speculation and Schumer’s direct efforts to control the narrative around their breakup. Her social media posts repeatedly emphasized an amicable tone and rejected specific rumored causes for the split.

Fischer, a James Beard Award-winning chef, has maintained a lower public profile throughout the separation and divorce process. The support orders for their son Gene were filed alongside the proposed divorce judgment, indicating coordinated negotiations between the former couple.

Schumer continues to tour and perform stand-up comedy while co-parenting with Fischer.
