Collin Gosselin fired back at his estranged mother Kate Gosselin through a representative Tuesday, flatly denying her claims that he ever harmed animals or attacked family members with weapons.
“Let us be absolutely clear: Collin has never used a weapon to harm a family member, nor has he ever harmed or killed an animal in his lifetime,” his rep, Adriane Schwartz, said in a statement. “These allegations are categorically false.”
Schwartz continued, “To publicly accuse your innocent child of such heinous acts to protect your reputation is beyond reprehensible,” She added that the 22-year-old “has shown extraordinary courage in telling his story, and he will not be intimidated or silenced by these damaging accusations.”
The statement arrived after Kate, 51, launched a public counter-offensive against her son following the release of his memoir, “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.” In direct messages with fans, the former “Jon & Kate Plus 8” star alleged Collin had a “history of violent behavior with weapons towards people, the killing of animals, his regular use of racial slurs, and his ‘physical behavior.'”
Kate escalated further when one fan pressed her for details. She claimed Collin killed animals “for fun” and assaulted his siblings “with a weapon.” The mother of eight also defended her own conduct during the period when Collin was reportedly in treatment, insisting she visited “EVERY single time the facility felt he was stable enough for a visit.”
“Sometimes a visit was planned but the facility canceled it because he was too unstable and it would have to be rescheduled,” she wrote in the exchange. Kate maintained that Collin is “cherry picking” which details to release, accusing him of sharing only segments of his medical record that make her look bad while “withholding all of his horrific and dangerous behaviors.”
“Makes me look like I was mistreating him when I was actually trying to keep him, his brothers and sisters, myself and our pets SAFE,” she added in the messages.
Collin’s book, which triggered the current feud, alleges that Kate verbally and physically abused him and his siblings, locked him in a basement, and diverted $100,000 of the children’s earnings to furnish her home. Kate shares twins Cara and Madelyn, 26, and sextuplets Collin, Joel, Leah, Alexis, Hannah, and Aaden, 22, with ex-husband Jon Gosselin. The outlet reached out to Kate’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.
