Jennifer Lawrence Gets Candid About Past Plastic Surgery and Future Facelift Plans to Be a ‘Sexy Mom’

Jennifer Lawrence is getting frank about going under the knife.

The Oscar winner, 36, told The Cut in a cover story published Tuesday that she has already had a breast augmentation and fully intends to get a facelift down the line. The candid disclosure lands just as her new hair care brand, Mes, hits the market.

“I want to be a sexy mom,” Lawrence said in the interview. “At drop-off, I want to look like a woman that has her s—t together even when I’ve just woken up and don’t have her s—t together.”

The “Silver Linings Playbook” star’s openness about cosmetic procedures has been building for months. Last October, she told the New Yorker that she planned the breast surgery after her body failed to recover from her second pregnancy the way it had after her first. “Everything bounced back, pretty much, after the first one,” she said. “Second one, nothing bounced back.”

Lawrence and husband Cooke Maroney welcomed their second child following the 2022 birth of their first.

The actress has also been upfront about less dramatic interventions. She shared with Vogue that she currently gets “baby Botox” and harbors a specific wish she considers off-limits. “I would love to have a buccal fat removal,” she said. “I can’t because everybody would know, but just know that I want that.”

Her beauty confessions arrive alongside the launch of Mes, a three-product line developed with Jasmina Aganovic, an MIT-trained chemical biological engineer whose 2023 TED Talk caught Lawrence’s attention. The collection includes a $52 repair mask, a $44 restyling serum and a $34 volumizing mist packaged in terracotta-inspired bottles.

Lawrence calls herself a “hair girl,” but her early Hollywood experience left her with little control over her look. She told The Cut that rising actresses learn to stay silent in the styling chair. “When you are a new and upcoming actress, you can’t be like, ‘Don’t put that on my hair,'” she said. “You sit in the chair and you say ‘Thank you’ and you shut your mouth.”

The damage piled up fast. During an “X-Men” screen test, she told Nylon, “they dyed my hair red, brown, black, and then platinum blond in the same day.” By the time she wrapped the second “Hunger Games” film, the destruction was severe enough that she chopped it all into a pixie cut, which she described to InStyle as “my tiny little rebellion.”

That history of forced transformations appears to have shaped her current philosophy. Where she once had no say, she now builds businesses and makes surgical plans on her own terms.

The Mes launch represents years of development for the “Die My Love” star, who has moved from passive subject in the beauty chair to active entrepreneur defining her own aesthetic.

Lawrence’s unfiltered approach to discussing her body stands out even in an era of increasing celebrity transparency. She names specific procedures, names her motivations and names the limits she accepts, as with the buccal fat removal she considers too recognizable to attempt.
