A 15-year-old girl escaped a Baltimore basement by striking her captor with a fire extinguisher after he allegedly stripped and stabbed her during a kidnapping.
The teen had accepted a ride from Abubakarr Barrie, 23, outside her sister’s house last Thursday, according to charging documents. She entered the vehicle believing she had secured transportation to a restaurant in the city.

Once inside the cab, the girl directed Barrie to her destination, but he drove off in the wrong direction instead. When she pointed out the error, Barrie “immediately became violent” and put her in a headlock, the documents allege.
Barrie then transported the teen to his home in Baltimore, where he dragged her to a basement room. He “advised her to put her phone down and not to scream,” according to the charging documents.
The driver allegedly assaulted her, ripping her clothes off and stabbing her in the basement. The attack left the 15-year-old with five stab wounds and a collapsed lung, authorities told WBFF. She was later treated at a local hospital for her injuries.

During the assault, the teen fought back against her captor. She grabbed a fire extinguisher and struck Barrie with it, creating an opportunity to flee the house.
The girl ran from the residence naked and bleeding, seeking help at a neighbor’s door. The neighbor lent her a phone, which she used to call emergency services and her mother, according to court documents.

Investigators tracked down Barrie using information provided by the teen. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault, according to the outlet.
Barrie appeared before a judge for a bond hearing on Monday. He was denied bond and remains in custody ahead of his next court appearance.
He is due to appear in court on Nov. 25.
