Sarah Michelle Gellar, 49, posted rare family photos showing her teenage son Rocky is the spitting image of his father.
The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum shared a carousel from a race track over the weekend, captioning it “Race weekend with my boys.” The images showed her and husband Freddie Prinze Jr., 50, supporting their 14-year-old son at the event.
Fans flooded the comments with remarks about the father-son resemblance. “Not the mini Freddie omg 😂,” one wrote. Another quipped, “Sarah’s genes didn’t even try 😭🤣.” A third commented, “Last slide is literally a mini FPJ,” while someone else joked, “Copy/Paste lol.”
The couple, who wed in 2002 after meeting on the set of 1997’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” have largely shielded their children from public view. They welcomed daughter Charlotte, now 17, in 2009, followed by Rocky three years and one day later in 2012.
Gellar marked Rocky’s 14th birthday last month with a reflective Instagram post. “And then, there were two. Three years and one day later @rockyprinze came racing into our lives,” she wrote, referencing his birth after Charlotte. “I should have known from your speedy delivery, the excitement you would bring. You have no idea how lucky I feel to watch you chase your dream. You inspire not just me, but everyone around you. Happy Birthday Rocky.”
The “She’s All That” star, now 50, previously opened up about the moment his friendship with Gellar turned romantic. Back in 2022, while celebrating their 20th anniversary, he told ET that their connection wasn’t immediate despite working together on the slasher film.
“She was from New York City and I am a SoCal kid, so we were night and day, and it was just our philosophies on life just never clicked,” he explained. “Then one day everything clicked, and it was about probably three years later, and we started dating and she’s been my girlfriend ever since.”
In March, Gellar spoke about the couple’s decision to maintain privacy around their family life. “We’ve enjoyed a quieter life and a private life,” she shared. “We’re allowed to live in that. And our fans have been so respectful of that.”
She also revealed an unexpected key to their lasting marriage during that interview: separate bathrooms. “You don’t have to be so fancy that there’s two bathrooms in your bedroom!” she clarified. “There just has to be another bathroom available.”
The weekend race track photos offered a rare glimpse into the family’s current life, with Rocky now old enough to pursue his own interests alongside his famous parents. Gellar and Prinze Jr. Have remained selective about what they share publicly since their early days as a Hollywood couple.
The couple first crossed paths as young actors on the set of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” the teen horror hit that helped launch both their careers in the late 1990s. Though they didn’t begin dating until three years after filming wrapped, their eventual relationship became one of Hollywood’s more enduring partnerships.
