Suspected Drunk Driver Plows Truck Through Busy California Restaurant in Crash Caught on Video

A suspected drunk driver crashed a truck through the front of a busy Northern California restaurant complex in broad daylight, miraculously injuring no one inside.

The collision destroyed the dining area shared by Chicken Thyme, Kabob Craze and Little Thai House in Concord on October 25 around 2 p.m., leaving a 16-by-16-inch concrete support pillar shattered and the roof compromised. The three eateries remain open for takeout and delivery only while repairs continue, with no timeline announced for reopening the dining room.

Fraidoon Jamshed, the owner of Chicken Thyme and Kabob Craze, was behind the counter when the vehicle burst through the glass. He estimated the driver’s speed at roughly 70 to 80 miles per hour and told KRON4 News the person never appeared to brake.

“The car jumped up and down, and then it hit the curb and this curb, and just flew in my store,” Jamshed said.

Jamshed said approximately seven or eight customers were seated in the dining area at the moment of impact, leaving virtually no opportunity to escape.

“I had seven, eight people sitting there, and I was behind the counter. And thank God that it’s miraculous nobody got hurt. It was a miracle,” he continued.

The owner described an alarming detail in the immediate aftermath: the driver remained unconscious with a foot pressed to the accelerator, forcing bystanders to intervene physically.

“His foot was still on the gas, and we had to open the car and remove his foot from the gas,” Jamshed added.

All three restaurants share a single kitchen located elsewhere in the commercial complex, a configuration that has allowed them to continue preparing food despite the dining room destruction. Jamshed confirmed they are fulfilling orders through takeout and DoorDash delivery while the indoor space remains closed.

“We’re still open for takeout and DoorDash delivery, but the dining room is closed,” he said.

The unidentified driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, though specific charges have not been disclosed. Concord Police Department officials have not publicly detailed the driver’s blood alcohol level or whether additional counts such as reckless driving or property damage are being pursued.

The crash occurred in a bustling commercial corridor of Concord, a city of roughly 125,000 residents northeast of San Francisco, where midday crowds typically fill local restaurants during the lunch hour. Security footage captured patrons seated at tables eating moments before the truck shattered the storefront, sending concrete debris and shattered glass spraying across the interior.

The structural damage to the load-bearing pillar has rendered the shared dining space unsafe for occupancy until engineers complete assessments and contractors execute repairs. The duration of that work remains unknown.

The California Post has sought additional information from the Concord Police Department regarding the arrest and any pending charges.
