Kevin Federline faces a hefty credit card bill after Britney Spears payments end

Kevin Federline is being sued over more than $117,000 in unpaid credit card and credit-line debt, court records show.

The former backup dancer, 48, took out the agreements with City National Bank in late November 2024, according to documents. That timing fell right around when Britney Spears, 43, sent her final child support payment for their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Federline had initially collected $40,000 monthly in child support while raising the boys in Hawaii. After Sean Preston turned 18, the amount dropped to $20,000 and continued until Jayden James finished high school.

In his memoir “You Thought You Knew,” Federline wrote that the money disappeared fast. “The money was gone almost as soon as it came in,” he claimed in the book.

He maintained those funds went toward security and maintaining a standard of living the boys experienced with Spears, which “easily ran well over $40,000 a month.”

The bank lawsuit breaks the debt into three pieces: a credit card, a personal line of credit and a personal overdraft line. Together they total at least $117,704.

The repayment deadlines were staggered. The overdraft line came due in April 2025, the personal line of credit in June 2025, and the credit card debt not until August 2026.

City National Bank is also demanding interest on all three balances. The rates are steep: 20.5 percent on the credit card, 7.5 percent on the line of credit, and 18 percent on the overdraft line.

Federline and Spears met in early 2004, got engaged by July, and married that September in California. She filed for divorce in November 2006, and the split was finalized in July 2007.

Federline later married Victoria Prince in 2013.

The lawsuit lands as Federline adjusts to life without the monthly support checks that had flowed for years. His attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the bank’s claims.

The debt case adds a new financial pressure to a post-divorce chapter already shaped by public money disputes. Federline’s book had framed the child support as necessary spending rather than surplus income.
