Hundreds of intricately cut pieces of colored paper go into works like this Rapunzel.
“The medium I use is something most people encounter as an everyday object — paper,” says Jackie.
“I try to turn that ordinary object into something extraordinary. Something that asks the viewer to stop, to take a second to look and think outside the box.”
Jackie got into paper art after struggling with drawing and painting at school. She found that when working with paper “everything clicked”.
And now she transforms Disney characters like the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.
And makes delicate 3D paper art from classic movie scenes.
Who knew the Disney Princesses could be made even more beautiful?
The dwarves from Snow White.
Aurora from Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.
But Jackie doesn’t just work on Disney characters; she used paper engineering, layering and quilting to make this adorable papery Totoro from Studio Ghibli’s My Neighbor Totoro.
And this minimalist Harry Potter.
