#1. Get fired.
Or at least quit a job you hate.
#3. Master something you never learned at school.
A new language, a new skill — start it, stick to it, and master it.
#4. Keep a “win book”.
Write down every accomplishment and success, big or small, to remind yourself of how awesome you are.

Okay, so this is a tricky one, but you really should try and contact your hero in some way, because you’ll regret it if you don’t.

Run a marathon, write a novel, cycle cross-country — push yourself and achieve something incredible.

Don’t dwell on the things you didn’t get; accept rejection with good grace and move onto the next thing. It’s just a blip.
#8. Buy a piece of art you love and display it in your home.
Or, even better, paint something yourself.
#9. Go on a spiritual journey.
Meditate in your garden or go on a pilgrimage (even if you don’t consider yourself “spiritual”) and see what you learn about yourself.
#10. Go on holiday alone.
You don’t have to go far, just be brave and go solo.
#11. Splash out on a super fancy meal — and pay no attention to the price.
#12. Mentor a young person in your profession.

List the things you want to achieve to stay motivated and focused (and enjoy crossing them off when they’re done).

In a good way.
#15. Pay good fortune forward.
Help out someone who’ll never know you did it (and you don’t have to do this just once, you know).
#16. Perfect a dish.
Have one delicious meal in your chef repertoire that you can whip up with ease.
