A Mentor, a Proud Father and Loved by ‘Everyone’: Friends Pay Tribute to ‘tWitch’

News of Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ death on Wednesday left a nation in shock. The beloved judge of Fox’s hit show “So You Think You Can Dance,” and co-executive producer and DJ for “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” was remembered fondly by those who paid tribute to him.

“He was a friend and a mentor not just to me but to SO many,” said “SYTYCD” judge Jojo Siwa on Instagram.

Although Boss is gone too soon, he will be remembered for the countless lives he touched.

“I’ll never forget our time getting to work together on SYTYCD, he became such a light in my life,” Siwa wrote.

Matthew Morrison, a judge from the dance competition show, has taken to Instagram to express his shock and sorrow at the passing of Twitch, a fellow judge. The “Glee” alum shared that he had looked up to Twitch for years and was star-struck when he first met him, connecting deeply over their shared love for fatherhood and other topics.

Morrison further praised Twitch for his mentorship, positivity, and talent. Mary Murphy, another judge and choreographer from the show, has also shared in a statement that her “soul is crying and aches on a cellular level.”

“I was a proud mama bear over Twitch. He was hungry, eager, and willing to do the work that would lift him in spirit and means,” she wrote.

Murphy was smitten the moment she met Boss, and the “SYTYCD” team weren’t making it easy for him. After three grueling auditions, he finally nailed his solo, mesmerizing the audience and marking a defining moment in his career.

Tragically, Boss passed away by suicide, confirmed by the LA County Medical Examiner’s report released this week. His twinkling eyes and shining smile will be remembered forever.

Ciara is heartbroken after hearing the news of Boss’ passing. She remembered him fondly, describing him as always full of joy, laughter, good times, and a big smile.

Paying homage to the beloved star, Ciara shared a clip of herself dancing backstage at the “Ellen” show. She said Heaven has gained an angel today.
