Actor Terence Stamp, known for Superman, passes away at 87; family shares heartfelt statement

Renowned actor Terence Stamp, best known for his role as the iconic Superman villain General Zod, has passed away at the age of 87.

His family announced the sad news with a statement released this morning (August 17), confirming his passing.

The statement from his family read: “He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come. We ask for privacy at this sad time.”

The exact cause of his death has not been disclosed yet.

Born in Stepney, London, Stamp was awarded a Golden Globe in 1963 for ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ following his role in the successful film Billy Budd.
