An actress faced backlash on social media after disclosing that she discovered she had head lice while flying.
Jenny Mollen, an actress, shared the unsettling news with her followers at the end of October, confessing that she believed she had lice.
Mollen explained that she had been experiencing itchiness for a while, initially attributing it to perimenopause symptoms.
Critics were quick to reprimand the actress for boarding the plane with an infestation, though she maintained she was unaware of the lice before her flight.
While sitting in first class, Mollen’s friend Caroline, who was traveling with her and had previous experiences with lice, pointed out the issue. Caroline remarked, “I’m not saying for sure you have lice, I’m just saying there’s absolutely no way you don’t.”
Mollen recounted: “Guys I’m on a plane with Caroline and she just looked at my head and remember when I told you last week that my head is itching, and I thought I had perimenopause symptoms, well guess what, I have f****** lice.
“Honestly I think I know where I got it but I am not going to call that person out but she knows who she is. I can’t even deal you guys, this is insane.
“We have a five hour flight, I am wearing a bag that [these headphones] came in, I have never had lice in my life, I don’t know what to do.”
Yeah… I don’t know how much difference that plastic bag is going to make really.
“I have been itching for two weeks so they have been living on me for two weeks.”
She then listed off some friends she believes may also have lice, describing the situation as a ‘bombshell’ revelation.
Concerned reactions flooded social media, with users worried about the potential spread of lice to other passengers.
One user exclaimed: “What the actual lice?!? Why are you on an airplane!?? You should notify an attendant so they can bring the hazmat crew in after you to clean up!”
Another commented: “Jenny you had an idea while you were on the plane. Disgusting. Whoever sits in that chair after you, gets your “gift”. Gross,”
A third person wrote: “Idk how you go 2 weeks and not investigating the situation. yall are wild.”
Meanwhile, a flight attendant remarked: “As a flight attendant, without her knowing she did the absolute best she could. I have seen parents checking their kids heads mid flight before.”
In a subsequent video, Mollen shared that she had received treatment for the lice.
