Adam Sandler fans notice touching tribute to Cameron Boyce in Happy Gilmore sequel

Viewers have noticed a touching homage to Cameron Boyce in Happy Gilmore 2.

It’s been six years since the untimely passing of Adam Sandler’s onscreen son from the comedy film Grown Ups.

Cameron Boyce, a talented young actor from California, passed away at the age of 20 due to complications related to epilepsy.

With the release of Sandler’s latest film, Happy Gilmore 2, on Netflix, attentive fans have discovered a heartfelt tribute to Boyce embedded within a particular scene.

As Sandler’s character makes his way to a check-in booth with golf clubs in hand, the booth attendant appears to be engrossed in a TV show.

Upon closer inspection, Boyce can be seen on the TV, wearing a blue shirt and holding a pair of binoculars.

Fans have identified the clip as coming from Boyce’s role as Luke Ross on Disney’s Jessie.

In that episode, Boyce’s character, with a broken leg, uses the binoculars to observe his neighbors.

Viewers have expressed their emotional reactions, with one commenting: “Adam put a tiny Cameron Boyce (played his son in Grown Ups) tribute in Happy Gilmore 2. Excuse me while I sob.”

Another fan shared: “Adam Sandler subtly including Cameron Boyce in this scene from #HappyGilmore2 hits different.”

One more reaction noted: “Watching the new Happy Gilmore and the TV is playing Jessie in the background. RIP Cameron Boyce.”

Another commenter added: “Happy Gilmore 2 was great. The honoring of Cameron Boyce was such a cute and awesome Easter egg. Bottom right of the screen they’re watching them on TV. Adam Sandler you killed it. Family is very happy.”

This isn’t the first instance of Sandler honoring Boyce; his 2020 film Hubie Halloween, originally meant to feature Boyce, included a tribute stating: “In loving memory of CAMERON BOYCE.”

“Gone way too soon and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, and most talented kids we knew. You live on forever in our hearts and are truly missed every day.”

The tragic event occurred on July 6, 2019, when Boyce passed away in his sleep due to a seizure caused by an existing medical condition.

His family released a statement at the time saying: “The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.”

To honor his memory, the Cameron Boyce Foundation was established by his family, focusing on finding a cure for epilepsy.
