Justin Baldoni’s team has launched a public website containing two crucial documents, totaling over 300 pages, related to the ongoing legal dispute between him and Blake Lively.
In December 2024, Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against her It Ends with Us co-star Justin Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and attempting to tarnish her reputation.
Baldoni refuted the allegations and counter-sued Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, claiming civil extortion, defamation, and invasion of privacy.
On February 1, Baldoni’s team unveiled a website featuring two public documents that have been filed in court.
One document, consisting of 224 pages, is an updated version of the lawsuit initially filed by Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer, on January 16 against Lively, Reynolds, and Lively’s publicist.
This lawsuit accuses Lively of ‘falsely claiming’ that Baldoni ‘sexually harassed her’ and of attempting to ‘publicly destroy’ Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties.
It further states: “Lively stole Wayfarer’s movie, hijacked Wayfarer’s premiere, destroyed the Wayfarer Parties’ personal and professional reputations and livelihood, and aimed to drive the Wayfarer Parties out of business entirely.
Heartbreakingly, a film that Baldoni envisioned years ago would honor the survivors of domestic violence by telling their story, with the lofty goal of making a positive impact in the world, has now been overshadowed beyond recognition solely as a result of Lively’s actions and cruelty.”
The lawsuit also contends that ‘the reality is that it was Lively and her team who carefully planned and implemented a vile smear campaign against Baldoni and Wayfarer to deflect attention and blame for Lively’s disastrous misjudgments’ and that Lively, Reynolds, and others ‘set out on a campaign to tar and feather the Wayfarer Parties in the press’.
The document provides alleged email exchanges between Baldoni and Hoover dating back to 2019, when discussions first commenced between the actor/director and the writer of It Ends with Us about creating a film adaptation of the popular novel.
It includes alleged screenshots of conversations between Baldoni and Lively as well as messages with other members of the production team.
The second document, comprising 168 pages, is intended to be ‘read in conjunction’ with the amended complaint and offers a ‘summarized account of the sequence of key events’.
It contains additional screenshots of email and text exchanges between Baldoni, Wayfarer, and others involved in the film, along with news reports and social media posts.
There are also alleged text messages sent to Baldoni from Lively and Reynolds.
Reacting to the website’s launch, Lively’s attorney Michael Gottlieb said to the Daily Mail: “The planned website will release what Mr. Freedman self-servingly proclaims will be ‘full unedited WhatsApp, text and email exchanges between Lively and Baldoni,’ although neither the media nor public will have any way of knowing which communications Mr. Freedman has selectively omitted from disclosure, including communications that Mr. Freedman and his clients may have deleted.”
A New York judge, Lewis Linman, has scheduled a trial date, with an initial conference set for Monday, February 3, and the first trial proceedings expected to start on March 9 of the following year.
