Amber Heard announces career shift to fans following name change and relocation to Spain

Amber Heard appears to have officially stepped away from the film industry.

Following her highly publicized and tumultuous divorce from Johnny Depp, the 39-year-old actress has embarked on a completely new chapter in her life.

She has settled in Spain and now has three children, having welcomed twins earlier this year.

In May, Heard shared the joyous news of her newborns on social media, stating: “Mother’s Day 2025 will be one I’ll never forget. This year I am elated beyond words to celebrate the completion of the family I’ve strived to build for years. Today I officially share the news that I welcomed twins into the Heard gang. My daughter Agnes and my son Ocean are keeping my hands (and my heart) full.”

Heard continues to reside in Spain, having made the move some years back. In her most recent update, she mentioned living in the capital, Madrid.

The Aquaman actress reportedly uses the alias Martha Jane Cannary, a nod to the real name of the legendary Western figure Calamity Jane.

Professionally, Heard has transitioned from film to theater. Since June, she has been sharing glimpses of her involvement with the Williamstown Theatre Festival on her Instagram page.

She performed in Spirit of the People, concluding a series of shows recently.

The play features elements in Spanish, a language Heard speaks fluently.

After the production of Spirit of the People wrapped up over the weekend, Heard posted a photo of herself surrounded by flowers.

“Thank you to all of my fans and supporters for making this already unforgettable weekend so much more beautiful,” she expressed, adding: “The flowers won’t last forever but the memories of all the love and support I received through this, will.”

Heard has received outstanding reviews for her theatrical debut.

Vanity Fair commented on her performance: “Amber Heard’s command of the stage, exceptional particularly for someone in her professional theatrical debut. As one of the three emotional anchors in the rangy, often surreal play, her character is cut from the same cloth as Blanche DuBois and her ilk: a torrid backstory and a thinning grasp on reality.

“Heard is not only eloquent and beautiful (and fluent in Spanish), but she embodies the fragility and resilience of a classic Tennessee Williams heroine.”

Fans have also shown their appreciation. One person wrote on her Instagram post: “Congratulations on an incredibly successful run with your play! It was an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to see you perform & I can’t wait to see what you do next.”

“You deserve this. Sending you all the love,” another fan added.
