Amy Robach has reportedly turned down multiple job offers, including a major network position, because they did not include her fiancé, T.J. Holmes.
Robach, 53, was “in talks to take over” Deborah Norville’s role at “Inside Edition” when Norville exited the syndicated newsmagazine in 2025, a source said exclusively. The insider claimed Robach was “the frontrunner” for the anchor chair, which ultimately went to her former ABC News colleague Eva Pilgrim. “They really wanted her, but it didn’t work out,” the source said.
A second source told the outlet that Robach has declined numerous opportunities because Holmes, 49, was not attached to them. “She was offered many jobs but kept declining because T.J. Wasn’t getting offers,” the source said. “She wanted to do something with him.”

The couple currently co-hosts the iHeartRadio podcast “Amy & T.J.,” which debuted in 2023 after both were ousted from ABC News. Their joint professional path appears to reflect a deliberate choice to prioritize their partnership over individual career advancement in traditional broadcasting.

Robach and Holmes first drew public attention in November 2022 when photographs surfaced showing them getting close. At that time, both were legally married to other people — Robach to actor Andrew Shue, Holmes to attorney Marilee Fiebig. The following year, Shue and Fiebig began dating each other.

ABC pulled both anchors off-air on Dec. 5, 2022, while the network conducted an internal investigation into their relationship. They never returned to the “GMA3: What You Need to Know” set. On Jan. 27, 2023, ABC News President Kim Godwin issued a statement announcing their departure: “After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News. We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.”
Later in 2023, the pair reunited professionally to launch their podcast and address the controversy directly. “There were days when I wanted to die,” Robach said in the premiere episode, describing the period as “a year of hell.”

Holmes added in that same episode: “We’re the folks who lost the jobs we love because we love each other.”

Both have maintained they were ousted and have denied cheating on their former spouses. Holmes elaborated on this distinction during a December 2023 podcast episode. “To be clear, we were outed as being in a relationship, but everyone else thought we were being outed as adulterers — being outed as cheating on our spouses — and it wasn’t the case,” he said.

The couple became engaged in September 2025. Reports said they filed for a marriage license in Holmes’ home state of Arkansas, though they have not yet officially married.

The reported “Inside Edition” talks represent the most prominent known opportunity Robach has passed up since leaving network television. The show, a long-running syndicated program, would have returned her to daily broadcast news in a high-profile time slot. Instead, the position went to Pilgrim, who had also departed ABC News.

Reports said that it had reached out to “Inside Edition,” Robach, and Holmes for comment on the job offer claims.
