Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer have reached a divorce agreement, with their proposed judgment submitted to the New York Supreme Court and signed by the court Thursday.
The estranged couple, who confirmed their separation in December 2025 after seven years of marriage, filed the paperwork eight months after Schumer, 45, officially moved to end the union in January. Fischer, 46, and the “Trainwreck” star now await final processing by the County Clerk, according to the docket. The court also handled orders regarding support for their 7-year-old son, Gene.
When the pair announced their split, Schumer took to Instagram to address the news directly. “Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son,” she wrote in the post. “We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time,” she added.
The comedian also shut down speculation that her physical transformation played any role in the breakup. “Blah blah blah not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basket and not because he’s a hot Janlmes beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever,” she wrote on social media.
Schumer and Fischer wed secretly in 2018 and welcomed Gene a year later. The marriage had faced public scrutiny before, including a 2021 moment when Fischer gifted Schumer a 40th birthday cake bearing the message, “I’m leaving you. This was the only way I could think to do it.” At that time, it remained unclear whether the inscription was meant as a joke.
The reason for their eventual split has never been made public. Schumer filed the official divorce paperwork in January, moving to formalize the separation they had confirmed weeks earlier.
Reps and lawyers for both Schumer and Fischer did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the newly submitted judgment.
The signed agreement marks a procedural step toward finalizing one of the more closely watched celebrity splits of 2025, with both parties having emphasized co-parenting and mutual respect throughout the process.
Schumer continues her stand-up and acting career while navigating the transition.
