AnnaLynne McCord, 39, and former rugby star Danny Cipriani, 38, are asking guests to pay for their upcoming wedding using a crowdfunding site.
The couple are asking guests to donate over $14,000 for their upcoming wedding in Los Angeles, having set up a wedding website on the Honeyfund platform with donation requests ranging from $100 to $600 for various wedding expenses after getting engaged on Christmas Day 2025.
On July 27, The Sun reported discovering the couple’s crowdfunding website on Honeyfund, a registry for couples who’d rather fund their honeymoon than receive home goods.
The couple wrote on their wedding site: “Help us create our dream wedding and honeymoon experience with any amount of donation.”
The couple are seeking two $500 donations for their rehearsal dinner, two $600 donations for their flowers, and eight $600 donations to construct their wedding venue.
Additional registry items ranged widely in price.
Listed items include the marriage license at $100, reception music at $125, reception beverages at $200, catering at $250, wedding photography at $300, a rehearsal dinner at $500, the wedding cake at $600, floral arrangements at $600, and a venue construction fee at $600.
The move immediately sparked backlash.
“It’s extremely tacky and distasteful to ask guests to pay for your wedding – especially in this town,” one insider told The Sun of the couple’s wedding scheduled for August 22. “These are two celebrities who boast a lavish lifestyle.”
Cipriani and McCord have been branded ‘cheapskates’ given their multi-million dollar net worth.
Social media users left harsh comments on the Honeyfund page itself.
“Absolute tramps LOL begging for people to pay for your wedding, how about don’t get married if you can’t afford it!
Some outlets framed their net worth as a key issue.
The actress, 39, and the former rugby player, 38, are seeking over $14,000 from their friends and family to pay for everything from their marriage license to their venue and reception meal. AnnaLynne is reported to be worth $4 million after starring in popular Noughties shows Nip/Tuck and 90210, and most recently Days of Our Lives. Danny, meanwhile, is estimated to have amassed the same fortune after his English rugby career. He played for Wasps, Sale Sharks, Gloucester, Bath, and Melbourne Rebels, and earned 16 England caps.
The couple has not publicly responded to criticism.
Neither McCord nor Cipriani has publicly addressed the criticism surrounding the registry at the time of writing. The couple have continued sharing updates about their relationship through social media without commenting on the backlash.
McCord and Cipriani’s relationship history adds context to their pairing.
The couple first met on Raya in 2016, with McCord telling People in April: “We met 10 years ago but were on and off for a good four years, and in an open relationship, because he was playing rugby overseas and I was filming in L.A. We separated in 2020 and then found each other again in February of 2024.”
Danny proposed in front of their loved ones at AnnaLynne’s Los Angeles home on Christmas Day 2025 with a 15-carat, emerald-cut diamond with seven round accent diamonds set in the band on each side, all in yellow gold.
In the viral moment surrounding their engagement, McCord recalled the proposal in an April 2026 interview with People magazine.
“I cried for 10 minutes straight,” AnnaLynne recalled when she announced their engagement in April 2026.
“At some point, I realized I had to answer. I said, ‘Yes, but I can’t even speak,’ and he replied, ‘That’s okay, it’s actually a good sign that you are quiet for once.’ Then, we’re all laughing.”
She also revealed what nearly happened before the proposal.
“It occurred to me that I should just propose to him and I told my sisters. Both really questioned this choice, and they strongly discouraged it. I decided to tell him that was my plan, but then the look on his face convinced me not to, and he fessed up and told me he had plans to propose to me on our upcoming trip to Cambodia.”
Other outlets defended the couple’s approach to wedding planning.
McCord and Cipriani are talking back to the wedding industrial complex by crowdfunding to cover the cost of their big day, and appear to be taking a different approach by forsaking wedding gifts in favor of donations to pay for their ceremony, party, honeymoon and everything in between.

A Honeyfund-style registry functions differently than a charitable crowdfunding campaign, allowing guests to contribute money toward specific expenses a couple would otherwise request as physical gifts, converting a traditional gift registry into itemized cash contributions tied to particular parts of the wedding.
The couple are requesting donations ranging from $100 to $600, with a separate section for cash donations.
