Apple’s newest product launch has left many puzzled.
Contrary to what you might think, this isn’t a surprise iPhone release.
It’s something unfamiliar and unexpected from Apple.
Introducing the iPhone Pocket.
The tech company describes this product as being inspired by ‘a piece of cloth’, with a ‘singular 3D-knitted construction designed to fully encase the iPhone, while expanding to fit your everyday items’.
Apple has teamed up with the Japanese fashion label Issey Miyake to create these colorful fabric strips that can be worn in various styles.
Since Apple introduced the product yesterday (November 11), it has left many fans baffled, particularly upon discovering its price.

The longer version of the Pocket, available in blue, brown, and black, is priced at $229.95, while the shorter version comes in orange, yellow, purple, pink, and turquoise for $149.95.
The concept, the price, and the fact that it’s essentially a ‘sock’ for your iPhone have bewildered social media users.
One person remarked on X: “Apple selling a $230 iPhone sock was not on my bingo card.”
Another quipped: “iPhone Pocket $150 Your gym sock $0.15.”
Someone else commented: “I don’t know about you guys but this looks like an April Fool’s joke. This iPhone Pocket, is literally a sock and they are calling it limited edition. It costs $230.”
Despite the confusion, some find it to be a trendy and innovative idea.

One online user said: “These Issey ‘socks’ for iPhone are so cute! Lovely nod to the past too.”
Another agreed, asking: “Which iPhone sock should I buy?”
Apple’s product description explains: “When stretched, the open textile subtly reveals its contents and allows you to peek at your iPhone display.”
“Born out of the idea of creating an additional pocket, while also being playful and versatile, iPhone Pocket is available in a short strap length (in eight colors), and a long strap length (in three colors), suitable for a variety of wearing styles such as handholding, tying onto bags, or wearing directly on your body.”
This could indeed serve as a stylish accessory for events or casual use at home.
