Ariel Winter, 27, has revealed she is dating one of Nolan Gould’s closest friends, six years after Modern Family wrapped its final season.
Winter, who played Alex Dunphy across all 11 seasons of the ABC sitcom, shared the detail during a recent interview. She and Gould, who portrayed her younger brother Luke on screen, have remained tight-knit since the series ended in 2020 — so much so that they now share a home together.
“Living with Nolan is so fun,” she told the magazine. “Honestly, it’s so sweet and it’s so fun. It’s just wonderful to live with Nolan and to get to spend so much time with him. Obviously I spent so much time with him on the set, but that’s different.”

The pair are actually less than a year apart in age, despite their characters having a wider age gap on the show. Winter explained that their dynamic has shifted significantly now that they’re no longer working together under studio lights. “We’re real people now doing adult stuff,” she added. “And we just love it.”
Winter’s romantic connection to Gould’s inner circle has turned their friendship into something of a family affair. She said that she, her unnamed boyfriend, Gould, and Gould’s girlfriend, singer Sadie Jean, regularly go on double dates together.
Since Modern Family concluded, Winter has built a career in voice acting. She currently stars as Sabrina on Apple TV+’s children’s series The Sisters Grimm, a role she described as layered and engaging. “Sabrina’s actually a really interesting and complex character,” she said in the same interview. “It’s fun to be in the Sisters Grimm and Sofia, because it’s like two magical worlds that I’m getting to play in.”

Her other post-Modern Family credits include Disney’s Phineas and Ferb, American Dad, and Star Trek: Lower Decks.
The interview also surfaced renewed fan fascination with how much the show’s youngest cast members have changed since the series finale. Jeremy Maguire, who joined Modern Family at age four as Joe Pritchett, the son of Sofia Vergara and Ed O’Neill’s characters, recently turned 15. Social media reactions ranged from disbelief to nostalgic distress. “Fifteen already?? I swear he was a toddler like two seasons ago,” one fan commented. Another wrote that Maguire “will always be a toddler to me,” while a third noted that “seeing the Modern Family kids grown up is making me feel ancient.”
Maguire has continued acting with roles in General Hospital, The Last Ship, and S.W.A.T.

Winter’s ongoing creative output and her unusually close living arrangement with Gould highlight how differently child stars from the same hit series can navigate post-show life. While some former cast members have stepped back from the industry, Winter has maintained steady voice work and a public profile, occasionally making headlines for personal milestones and social appearances.
The original Modern Family finale aired in April 2020 after 250 episodes, capping off an 11-season run that made the Dunphy family household names. The series followed three interconnected Los Angeles families and won 22 Emmy Awards during its broadcast.
Winter is expected to continue voicing Sabrina as The Sisters Grimm progresses through its Apple TV+ run.
