The age-old question of what happens after death remains a subject of intense debate.
With a myriad of beliefs and religious doctrines around the globe, perspectives on the afterlife vary greatly.
The truth is, the mystery remains unsolved until one experiences it firsthand. However, a Reddit user, identifying as an atheist, recently shared their harrowing near-death experience.
In a thread started on the popular forum site, a user inquired: “I am wondering about any atheists or former atheists who had an NDE, what was it like?”
This prompted a quick and startling response from one individual.
Describing their personal experience, the atheist user wrote: “NDE are tailored for oneself, they are all different. I was pretty good with nothingness after life, didn’t bother me at all.”

“During the NDE I was surprised there was something after, and I dismissed it for years cause it wasn’t my frame of reference. Now I’m not a follower of any institutionalized religion, but I know there is something after death.”
Detailing the specifics of the experience, they added: “During my NDE, I was in love and light, and I saw 3 entities observing the scene. Seemed to be two males and one female, couldn’t see the difference between them, but I could feel it.”
Such experiences are not only reported by Reddit users. Celebrities, too, have shared their near-death experiences.

For instance, American actor Jeremy Renner experienced a life-threatening situation in 2023 following a snowplow accident.
In his memoir, Renner, who sustained over 30 broken bones, recounted: “I could see my lifetime. I could see everything all at once. In death, there was no time, no time at all, yet it was also all time and forever,” he said.
Further elaborating on his experience in the Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, Renner shared: “It’s a wonderful, wonderful relief to be removed from your body. It is the most exhilarating peace you could ever feel.
“You don’t see anything but what’s in your mind’s eye. Like, you’re the atoms of who you are, the DNA, your spirit. It’s the highest adrenaline rush, but the peace that comes with it, it’s magnificent.”
In a similar vein, Back In Action star Jamie Foxx faced a near-fatal incident in 2023 due to a brain bleed that led to a stroke.
In his Netflix special, What Had Happened Was, Foxx recounted: “Your life doesn’t flash before your face. It was kind of oddly peaceful. I saw the tunnel. I didn’t see the light. I was in that tunnel, though.
“It was hot in that tunnel, am I going to the wrong place?”
