Audience Reacts to Snoop Dogg’s Edited Comment at the Golden Globes

The Hollywood awards season began with a bang on Sunday night at the 83rd Golden Globes, leaving audiences surprised when Snoop Dogg was unexpectedly censored during the broadcast.

Contrary to expectations, it wasn’t Nikki Glaser’s daring jokes about the Epstein list that led CBS to mute the audio. Instead, it was Snoop Dogg’s relaxed and informal presentation style as he introduced the inaugural Best Podcast award.

As the ceremony progressed, the iconic rapper from Long Beach made his way to the stage to the tune of his 2004 track Drop it Like its Hot, dressed in a sleek all-black suit and wearing dark sunglasses.

True to form, Snoop’s sunglasses served a dual purpose: a stylish accessory and a subtle nod to his high spirits. Addressing the celebrities, he encouraged them, “I need y’all to loosen up a little bit.”

In his distinctive style, he quipped, “This is the double-G’s, the double-G’s, it’s the Golden Globes, and you’re with the D-O-double-G. So, make sure you enjoy yourself, don’t be no stiff biff!”

With a more relaxed demeanor than other presenters, the Sensual Seduction artist introduced the new podcasting category, which has seen a surge in popularity with many celebrities entering the podcasting world.

Snoop remarked, “Best Podcast is a very important category for me, because, before podcasts, I was what y’all would listen to driving around in your cars. To you podcasters, you better hope I don’t get in that game.”

He continued his humorous ramble, leading to the announcement, “Shout-out to the Golden Globes for putting the podcast category in this awards show. And shout-out to all of the podcasters. You all are winners, but the real winner is…”

That’s when CBS decided to cut the audio.

As he attempted to reveal the winner’s name, Snoop candidly admitted to the audience, ‘I am high as a motherf***er right now.’

He added, ‘Y’all had me here too long.’

Fans quickly took to social media to uncover what Snoop had said during the muted moment. Upon discovering the truth, many were amused, with one person commenting, “That’s like censoring Bob Ross for painting happy little trees.”

Most viewers expressed their affection for the beloved entertainer, with remarks like ‘you gotta love Snoop’ and ‘man’s just speaking the truth, no filter needed.’ Another viewer described the censored comment as “That’s the most Snoop Dogg quote I’ve ever read lmao.”

The award went to ‘Good Hang with Amy Poehler,’ a podcast featuring the renowned comedian, which attracts major stars from Hollywood and beyond. However, it wasn’t quite how Poehler envisioned winning a Golden Globe.

In a playful tone, Poehler remarked, “This is exactly how I pictured it: Snoop giving me the award. Wow. I don’t know about award shows, but when they get it right it makes sense.”

This marked the comedian’s second time hosting the awards show, and once again, she held nothing back.

Glaser made a reference to the Epstein files, humorously stating, “I cannot believe the amount of star power we have in this room tonight, it’s insane. There are so many A-listers… and by ‘A-listers’, I do mean people who are on a list that has been heavily redacted.

“And the Golden Globe for the best editing goes to the Justice Department.”

She also took jabs at Leonardo DiCaprio’s dating life, Timothée Chalamet’s physique, jokingly asked George Clooney to repair her Nespresso machine, and called CBS ‘America’s newest place to ‘see BS’ News’.

See you next year, Glaser?

A 16-year-old became the youngest ever recipient of the Best Supporting Actor in a TV series award for his performance in Adolescence.

The Netflix series had a successful night, winning three additional awards – Best Actor in a Limited Series for Stephen Graham, Best Supporting Actress for Erin Doherty, and Best Limited/Anthology Series or TV movie.

Before presenting the award for Best Stand-up Comedy Performance, Wanda Sykes humorously remarked, “Ricky Gervais, I love you for not being here. No, I love you, Ricky, because if you win, I get to accept the award on your behalf, and you’re going to thank God and the trans community. Ooh, Ricky!”

When Gervais won for Mortality and was not present, Sykes seized the moment to both acknowledge him and accept the award for him.

Quipping that she would ‘borrow’ Teyana Taylor’s speech, she added, “Because he would like to thank God and the trans community.”

Glaser concluded the show with a subtle homage to the late Rob Reiner, a respected figure in Hollywood.

Reiner, 78, and his 70-year-old wife, Michele Singer Reiner, passed away at their Los Angeles residence in December. Their son, Nick, faces charges in relation to their deaths.

The host appeared on stage donning a ‘Spinal Tap’ cap, a nod to Reiner’s 1984 film This Is Spinal Tap.

“This one went to 11. Thank you guys for an amazing night, and I hope we found the line between clever and stupid. A good Chalamet to you all,” Glaser concluded on a poignant note.
